Why is that pier like that? Did the pier have to be replaced, and they just did that?

Looks like that's what happened. I emailed a buddy of mine who lives nearby so maybe we'll get a definite answer soon.

Stale photo...Clue?
If you are referring to the picture in the post above you, looks like it was solved several posts back

Unless I'm mistaken, the last bridge posted was solved a month ago by kevinb1994, who has not yet posted a new bridge picture.  Kevin, do you have a bridge picture to post?  If not, maybe someone else could be allowed to take a turn?

webny99

Yeah, the rule is that anyone can jump in after 24 hours. We're well past that, so I'll post another bridge tomorrow unless someone else has one before then.

kevinb1994

Yes, go ahead...I have nothing to post.

webny99

Sorry, I'm a day later than expected. This isn't a super high quality photo, but should still be a pretty easy one:

I don't know the formal name for this bridge, but I am going to guess that it is the Stillwater Crossing in MN/WI.

^ That is correct! It actually doesn't have a "formal" name other than St. Croix Crossing, which doubled as the name of the project when it was built about a decade ago. It replaces the historic Stillwater lift bridge 2 miles north,  which is now a bike/pedestrian-only crossing.

This one might be a tad difficult, so I'll give you a hint right away: it is in  Maryland.

My entry. No hints but shouldn't be too hard.

Tell me after so as to not give anything away, but:

Why would you put pillars under a self-supporting truss?

I know where a structurally identical bridge is, but not this specific one. Curios to see if it is over the same river.

Probably not right but I'd like to keep us moving here... Vanport Bridge (I-376) over the Ohio River?

OK, do you have any other clues? I would like to figure this one out before moving on.
