I've been spending this weekend recording LPs to MP3s (over 222 songs so far), and starting work on the next round of updates. Most of this time has been spent working through Max R's excellent posts and the commentary thereup. Seeing what Max has started to do on Alex's website, and in consideration of my time limitations, an idea popped into my head. I'd like the thoughts of the folks here, as you would most likely be the ones involved with this.

Simply put: Folks here are generating excellent history updates and research (I'm less interested in photos). As opposed to wading through posts, it might be easier to "outsource" opportunities to updates highway histories to those that know it best. This also provides a backup of people who are familiar with my site, in case something happens to me.

The issue is that I do not use a content management system on California Highways. Each highway has a quasi-HTML file that is processed through a perl script that produces the final site. I edit those files using an HTML editor (previously HoTMetaL Pro, now Amaya (https://www.w3.org/Amaya/)). This means I can't outsource by creating accounts. We could, however, "check out" individual files, freezing the files until I receive an update. I only tend to do my updates in bursts - usually starting on a three day weekend.

Would this be of interest to folks? If so, I can work with the interested parties to explain my setup in more detail and figure out the particulars.
