Unique, odd, or crappy lighting masts (or good, bad, and the ugly).

We've all seen them, those shitty, unique, or odd lighting masts.

I'll start.

Only in Florida do you see masts that look like utter shit.

I like to call these 'MoDOT's trumpet masts'. They're quite unique so to say.

I guess some of us can agree that IDiOT's lighting masts look shitty-as-hell.

Mississippi appears to have some sort of fetish with high-mast lighting (and whose to say I can blame them either?)

Show me your lighting masts.
I am inactive for a while now my dudes. Good associating with y'all.

The one in Florida you posted looks like the ones on either US 17 or SR 540 in Winter Haven.

Speaking of Florida, Osceola County used Disney street lamp poles on John Young Parkway between Carroll Street and the Orange County Line.  Tall poles with the light assembly head on a one foot pole aimed down at the shoulder below it look funny and being a Disney concept outside the resort, it looks like it should stay within Disney.

Also the square light assemblies almost all Orlando Mast Arms signals use are crappy looking and some are redundant to the regular power company lighting in the same intersection.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

I've seen so many ugly street lights on surface streets in my travels that I can't even begin with that, so I'll stick to freeways for now.

Off top are these in the vicinity of the Philadelphia International Airport on I-95, obviously because of the nearby runways

Similarly, these are on I-564 at Naval Station Norfolk's runway

Also in the city of Norfolk are these semi-low-as-hell lights similar to your Florida example. This is on I-64 at Military Hwy

Lastly are these very unique setups in Charleston, WV. The lights themselves look almost like the ones attached to high mast poles but they're on cobra-like arms instead. I have yet to see anything like this outside of Charleston's freeways. This is on I-64

Sorry if all of the images point to the ground but ever since I updated Google Maps on my phone every link points to the ground for some reason. You're have to pan the camera around yourself.

It came from Sarasota.

I've never thought I'd see lights like those used on freeways, quite ugly.  :banghead:

I loved the old high masts at the Fort McHenry Tunnel Toll Plaza.  Sadly, they are not there anymore.  It's for the better though, as most of the old high masts were partially out or out completely.

UCFKnights

I hate this one... and to make it worse, across the street has 2 different types of lights, the side street is different, and up a block has high mast lighting for the highway and after the interchange is reasonable looking lighting. Infact, they switched out the lights on the opposite side of the street but left the really ugly ones.
