What interstate have you clinched the most times?

Let's twist things around - what if we count "secret" interstates (ones with an unsigned designation), then what are our answers?  :hmmm:   :spin:

The new answer is obvious for me. I said I-475 (GA) before (under normal circumstances), but now my answer is clearly the unsigned I-124 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Interstate 124 is "secretly" designated over the US 27 freeway in downtown Chattanooga from I-24 to the beginning of the P R Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River. This is a very short stretch of (unsigned) interstate, and it is in my neck of the woods (since I live nearby in Dalton, GA), so I have literally been on I-124 and clinched it too many times to count or even be able to guess the exact number. With this fun little twist in the criteria, I-124 (TN) now largely trumps I-475 (GA) (my original answer for this thread, under the normal circumstances) regarding the interstate which I have clinched the most times.

Here is my source for confirming Interstate 124 information: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_124

Now that you mention unsigned interstates, I've done I-595 in Maryland several times.

Not sure that I previously mentioned it, but if former/decommissioned interstates count, I-181 in Tennessee would be up there for me. And if you count interstates that have been renumbered, I-275 in Tennessee would be on my list, because we used it often when it was part of I-75 and we would go to Gatlinburg to vacation in my youth.

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

That wouldn't change anything for me. The only unsigned Interstate I'm certain I've been on is Maryland's I-595, and I've only clinched that once. I may have been on I-124 on a visit to Chattanooga as a kid over 20 years ago, but I'm not positive (and at any rate, I'm pretty sure we didn't cross the river, so I probably didn't clinch it).

I clinched I-675 in Michigan last night for the 1,000,000th time.

I-190 in IL with all the times I've picked people up and then head back east onto I-90.

IL-390 is a close second as I've used it frequently to go west during rush hour, not much traffic uses it yet
The local weatherman, trust me I can be 99.9% right!

I-10 is the one I taken the most, since it passes through the Coachella valley in Indio and north of Palm Springs (its city limits). The one I taken the least in my life is I-40 from CA to OK (Tulsa to be exact...and back). And when I visited France twice in my life to see my Dad's side of family, I went on their freeways or highways (4x, 2 on each trip from Paris north to St. Omer, my Dad's hometown).
Get your kicks...on Route 99! Like to turn 66 upside down. The other historic Main street of America.

These are segments of those interstates.  The OP is asking which ones you've clinched in their entirety the most.  I'm fairly certain that plenty of us drive particular segments of interstates often for either business or pleasure.

I used to do I-980 about weekly, but no longer. Still probably my most-clinched Interstate though.

Captain Jack

Of the 2-di's, I would have to say I-24, have completed it numerous times.

3-di's probably shouldn't count, frequent ones that come to mind 164-Evansville, 465-Indianapolis, 264-Louisville, 265-Louisville, 270-St Louis, 840-Nashville (that one should count as a 2-di)

plain

I'm sure I've clinched I-195 (VA) at least 50 times over by now.

Also multiple clinches:

I-66
I-97
I-264 (VA)
I-270 (MD, including the SPUR)
I-277 (NC)
I-280 (NJ)
I-295 (DE/NJ)*
I-295 (MD)
I-295 (VA)
I-395 (MD)
I-395 (DC/VA)
I-440 (NC)
I-464
I-495 (DE)
I-495 (DC-MD-VA)
I-564
I-595 (MD unsigned)
I-664
I-695 (DC)
I-695 (NY)
I-895 (MD)

Honorable mention:

I-279 (2×)
I-495 (NY, 2×)
I-610 (LA, 2×)
I-676 (3×)
I-695 (MD, 2×)
I-795 (3×)

*When I-295 gets extended in NJ (and PA), will I have to clinch it again even though I've already driven the roadway (as I-95)??

For 2di's, it's a 3-way tie between 8, 66, & 82, with 4 times each.  I-68 and the western I-86 are tied for 2nd with 3X,  and the only other (2X) multiple clinches would be the western I-76 and the western I-88.  For 3di's, it's likely I-880 has taken the crown (I'm up & down it at least once per week and have been since about 2015).  Essentially I've clinched every 3di in CA at least twice, some (210, 215, 280, 605, 680, etc.) multiple times (never ran a count!).  Out of state, clinched I-205 OR/WA quite a few times when I was living up there, also -- due to multiple relatives in the area -- I-170 & I-270 in St. Louis metro.  I can only wildly speculate about clinches of 3di's elsewhere -- although I-278 in NY metro comes to mind as a possibility.

I-35W (TX) – clinched 10 times

Not sure if 35W counts as a 2di, anyway.
Other than that, the only 2di I've ever clinched is I-27, and that was back in the 90s.

Probably Oregon-Washington I-205.  Been up and down the west coast a bunch of times and almost always take the Portland bypass.  But I don't get to count an I-5 clinch very often because I'm usually only heading to the S.F. Bay Area and don't drive I-5 south of Dunnigan very often.

DandyDan

I believe the only 2di I ever clinched is I-88 in Illinois. I probably did it 4 times for sure, maybe more.

For 3di's, it's safe to say it is I-480 in Omaha, from back when I lived in the Omaha area. I-180 in Lincoln is probably second. Third is either I-235 in Des Moines or I-229 in Sioux Falls.
MORE FUN THAN HUMANLY THOUGHT POSSIBLE

Definitely the unsigned I-296. Too many times to keep count. Best estimate is 200+. For signed interstates, I-196 with 10+ clinches. For a 2DI, tie between I-66 and I-96.

I was surprised to figure out I've clinched I-66 the same amount as the close-to-home I-96. Mostly because I visit DC as often as I visit Detroit (about once a year).

Ooh, I forgot about that one.  Probably around four times for me too.

Not sure if 35W counts as a 2di, anyway.

I always considered both 35Ws to be 3dis since 35E carries the mile markers (and in Minnesota, the legal definition of I-35 as well).

I-384 by a long shot. Next would be I-291.

Mines would be I-195 (MA/RI). I've travelled to Providence a lot back and forth using that route from Cape Cod.

They said take a left at the fork in the road.  I didn't think they literally meant a fork, until plain as day, there was a fork sticking out of the road at a junction.

For me it would have to be I-190 (IL) followed closely by I-290 (IL)-both too numerous to count.

That is, of course, until I-42 becomes a full fledged reality. Even then, though, it will take me some time to multi-clinch the as yet unbuilt new sections of bypasses that will be part of the I-42 routing. I have clinched the current configuration of Future I-42 many many times, but that obviously doesn't include the Kinston and Havelock bypasses.
