Quote from: corco on December 03, 2024, 02:05:43 PMI just realized I drove on the portion of Texas Farm to Market Road 378 concurrent with US 62 and signed as such back in 2012, so I'm actually up to 388.

https://corcohighways.org/?p=9913196 (pardon the potato photos)

In a situation like that with the sun facing the driver, nearing the horizon on a clear day, it's tough to get any clean shot. It's either unexposed (can't see the sign detail), or over-exposed (the sky is too light). The auto-exposure metering unit in a camera goes kooky during overly-backlit situations.

A rather inauspicious addition to the table.

Yesterday I clinched TX 73 (jumping 18 people in the rankings in the process), so now my next two numbers are 106 and 107. I have now completed my goal of getting to 100 before I graduate college (a year early, at that!). The best place to get both 106 and 107 appears to be San Antonio, where TX Loops 106 and 107 are in close proximity with each other.

Which was your 102, Corey?

I have two different 102s. I have OK 102 from near OKC as part of a Route 66 trip and also FM 102 in between Houston and San Antonio (part of one of the fastest ways to get to San Antonio from my house).

Baby steps.  After my holiday travels, my lowest number not traveled has increased from 357 to 361.

Future prospects:  I have a few stragglers in the 360's which are all near Salisbury / Pokomoke City on Maryland's Eastern Shore.  A day trip next spring should get those.  (Thanks to Maryland for using a "clustering" numbering convention)

Next "difficult" one is likely 369.  I could travel 1200 miles to Texarkana to get I-369, or 300 miles to Binghamton NY to get NY 369.  Next "really difficult" one is 398.  The only two I found were in Arkansas and Nevada.

To find routes, I use Wikipedia which I assume is not 100% comprehensive, such as:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highways_numbered_369

Virginia has a posted SR 369 inside Southwest Virginia Community College (thank user @famartin for posting that image). Google Street View shows it's still posted as of five months ago.

I traveled on Kentucky 398, which winds along Pennyrile State Park. That's closer to you than the other examples.

VA 398 stills exists within Danville Community College.  It is just west of VA 86.

There is also GA 369 in the north Atlanta suburbs if you decide to head there.

That's the 369 which I had acquired. Forgot about that VA 398; was hoping to get it 4 years ago but then my work project changed and the Kentucky 398 was closer.

formulanone and 74/171FAN, thank you for your comments!  They were very helpful.

Today I learned (although I had suspected) that Wikipedia's page "List of routes numbered nnn" is not exhaustive!  None of the Virginia nor Kentucky routes cited here appear on those pages, but they can be found in the Travel Mapping database.  Serves me right for trusting Wikipedia LOL.

I wonder if there is a way to query the TM DB to get such a list (like all routes numbered 369)?

OK, maybe after a day trip to Maryland's Eastern Shore, and a weekend trip into Virginia, I might actually continue my march to 400 (and beyond).  Sure beats schlepping to East B.F. Arkansas :)

(Edited:  The VA routes are in Wikipedia, but the KY ones are missing.  Previously said both were missing)

There is a way! If you look on the Highway Browser page, TM has a route finder which is able to query the entire database for the number you're looking for.

So there is!  Thanks Corey!  I did find that it was a substring search, as I tried looking for "USA" and "369" - and matched not only KY 369 but KY 1369, KY 2369, and KY 3369 (as an example) - but I can certainly live with that.

As you can see, it's a substring match, not a numerical match.  The "routes traveled by number" page does a better job extracting numbers, but it's only going to show you ones you've traveled.  It sounds like an option to match exact numbers on the route finder page might be useful.

(Added a note to an open issue in GitHub to remember this and hopefully get it implemented next time I'm in the code.)
Photos I post are my own unless otherwise noted.

As far as I can tell I've never driven a Route 33, so that appears to be my answer for now. Next lowest number seems to be 48.

Kind of an odd coincidence that those two route numbers would show up here--I just posted a couple days ago in the "road trip regrets" thread about my recent drive through West Virginia and not having enough time to make it to Corridor H.

Made it onto a 103 on a road trip through the Southeast.
