For Washington, I don't believe SR-41 should count. It is only signed as ID-41, because the very first portion straddles the ID-WA state line, until the road curves into Idaho fully.

WA 41 is official, because it's covered by the WSDOT SRweb (in the EA region.  I can't link any further within that site.)  Even though Washington State Highways says it only covers the southbound lanes, the SRweb camera covers both directions.  Washington maintains separate mileage for their SR 41.  And WA 41, named for ID 41 is (wait for it) 0.41 miles long.  You can't make this stuff up.

According to Wiki, MT 68 in Cascade is shorter than MT 77. MT 68 is listed as 1.494 mi long.

It's certainly official, but WA 213 is shorter, so WA 41 is only notable if it counts as "signed". Which it shouldn't, imo, because there exist no Washington head shields with 41 in them.

The next shortest is WA 704 at 0.63 miles, which is signed. It was planned to be longer, but only one block has ever been constructed.

In Maryland, be aware of MD-856, Old Lynch Road, in the Worton area of Kent County (according to Mr. and Mrs. MDRoads on MDRoads.com, this formerly was part of MD-298 (Lambs Meadow Road) and "features the narrow concrete slab common on old routes in Kent County").  According to the Highway Location Reference, it is 0.1 miles long (according to Google Maps, it is roughly 450 feet long, or around 0.085 miles from end to end).  Might also be the narrowest state-maintained road in Maryland.

Find it on the map.

VA 349 is not signed anymore, and it even has been removed from Travel Mapping for that reason.
I am now a PennDOT employee.  My opinions/views do not necessarily reflect the opinions/views of PennDOT.

I've been told that AR 933-2 north of Mountain View is signed, it's just barely north of the AR 5/9/14 intersection and it's literally just a boat ramp to the White River. It's about 200 feet long.
I take pictures of road signs, that's about it.

General rule of thumb: Just stay in the "Traffic Control" section of the forum and you'll be fine.

While SD 17 is indeed the shortest state highway in SD (used to go from SD 42 to SD 46), it is no longer signed as such from SD 44: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.3447877,-96.8857462,3a,75y,131.76h,83.28t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sIgCQfAwY8Ah39BG1fr-YBA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

Travel Mapping says Kentucky Highway 2535 is the shortest one which is signed (at US 23/60 in Catlettsburg), at 0.05 miles.

Mississippi Highway 888 (at 0.13 miles) seems to be the shortest signed route in its state, thanks to the work of froggie.

Mississippi 761 is 0.129 miles, according to the MDOT log, so it might be shorter.

VA 341 is two segments in TM totaling 0.19 miles.

As much as I like TM, one must remember its mileages are inexact.

In the case of road mileage, I rule out measurements greater than one significant digit to the right of the decimal, anyhow. Some places use the center for the zero point, others use the edge of the highway, making the 52 feet (or thereabouts) a "shruggable" margin of error for those of us who are not engineers.

A 52 foot margin-of-error can still be significant when looking at official distances.  According to VTrans, VT 26 is approximately 69 feet in length.

...and to VTrans' credit, there are VT 26 trailblazers.

Of course, in 2015 at least, one of them was in error....

WI-243 is shorter than WI-193.
Was in 2020 and still is . . . is the table being updated?

Are they including bannered routes? If so, there are a couple SPUR highways in Wisconsin that are shorter than WI-243.
