Regarding the OP, I just learned this evening that MnDOT will be reconstructing the US 10/US 169/MN 47 interchange in Anoka from the current standard diamond to a SPUI.  Construction begins next week.

Two SPUIs planned for the I-290 reconstruction in Bellwood and Maywood IL, at 25th and 1st Avenues.

Can't vouch for the whole state, but in PA after a few SPUIs (or SPDI's as I've seen PennDOT refer to them as) were constructed when they were the new hotness, I don't think I've heard of any in quite a few years.

On the other hand, there's been a few DDI's opened in the last couple of years with more planned.

PennDOT built exactly two: US 22/PA 66 near Delmont and I-180/US 220/US 15 in Williamsport. A third is proposed on I-83 at Derry Street as part of the Eisenhower Interchange reconfiguration for the I-83 Beltway projects, but that's still I believe under final design. (Earlier, in the 2003 I-83 Master Plan study, a SPUI was also proposed at Union Deposit Road, but this was unfortunately cut in favor of minor improvements to the existing diamond, which is now only slightly less awful).

Meanwhile, between Washington, Shrewsbury, and Ephrata, PennDOT has built more DDI's in 10 years than they have SPUIs in 30...

That's a bit of a tight space to fit that in, but it will be better than the current diamond.
