This is a rhetorical question, but is the spur between I-35E and Harry Hines an old alignment of US 77? It appears to be where the freeway ended at one time. The beginning of the Dallas bypass, if you will.
Are there any other spurs like this in DFW?
This was built because I-35E temporarily ended here for a few years. I have heard that this temporary ending was not planned, and had it not occoured, this ramp setup would not exist.
Old maps show a temporary connection between US 75 (Central Expwy) and Greenville Ave (Old US 75) somewhere in North Dallas. No evidence of it exists today.
Spur 557 east of Dallas is the OLD I-20. I-20 originally combines with US 80 east out of Dallas, and went SE on what is now Spur 557 to join it's currnet alignment

I think Fleming Pl in Dallas exists due to I-35E terminating in this area for a while; see this map

Interesting that it connects to Jefferson Blvd, which is not the old US 67/77. Zang Blvd was. Anyway, it would have been a run up Jefferson from US 80 (now TX 180) to access it.
In Ft Worth, The Southwest Blvd section of TX 183 is the OLD LOOP 217. Part of it is a freeway that is now un-nessessary. It appears that there was a change of plans, because I-820 (locally known as "LOOP 820") was built farther west.
