On that note, Edmonton and Calgary have been divided into quadrants

And I don't know what a "West Valley" is, but apparently it's more important than Garden City

Oooo- and look at the city of Northeast Denver

Memphis is toast

I really don't understand how such a cutting edge, top of the line company can allow updates like this to go live.

It looks like they uploaded a neighborhood layer but failed...Tucson is divided into its wards instead of the official neighborhoods...nobody knows what ward they're in (upside: they do now!) http://goo.gl/maps/defQq

I've noticed it for a while that the townships within Indianapolis (Marion County) are referenced in the same way, even though they are all a part of the city itself. Granted in Indy, if you don't live in a neighborhood that is commonly refered to by a name, you are refered by your township's name. It may be like that elsewhere too, but looking at that Memphis example....I could have sworn there was a large city in that part of the state that went by the name of a former Egyptian community.

Looks like there are some newly-resurrected highways near Cedar Rapids: IA 94 appears despite being decommissioned in 2003. But that's not all: IA 149 is marked in Fairfax even though it hasn't gone through there since 1985, as US 151 superseded it upon its extension to I-80. And then there's IA 84 near the airport, which hasn't been a state highway since 1980.

It's not limited to Cedar Rapids, either: IA 401 has not gone through Johnston since 1990, but here it is.

Mr. Matté

Google's now posting all the SRs in Pennsylvania in their own shields, both the signed routes and the quadrant routes.

Example: https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=40.661629,-75.696831&spn=0.213036,0.445976&t=m&z=12

Mentioned this as an aside in another thread, but it bears repeating.

Google has I-69 marked on the Pennyrile Parkway north of the WK Parkway, and also has I-66 marked on the WK east of the Pennyrile. The public information officer from the two westernmost highway districts submitted the error report to Google. They replied with some off-the-wall excuse.

Pretty bad when they won't accept a correction from a highway department official.

Mileage-based exit numbering implies the existence of mileage-cringe exit numbering.

I do not know if someone brought this up or not, as there are many pages here now, but US 70 Business through Smithfield, NC is shown as mainline US 70.

That's not incorrect, it's a limitation in the way Google Maps displays route markers--they do not show any banners on their maps.

Interesting.  That is unusual, as it can throw a stranger off looking at it.

Anyway, I did find another as I was going through my old stomping ground.  That is NJ 124 in Irvington, NJ along Springfield Avenue.  NJ 124 ends at the city border on Springfield Avenue and turns to an Essex County Route at that particular point.

It becomes more than a little problematic when the bannered route is of similar quality to the main route, and I'm trying to plan my way through an area for the first time. Oh, yeah, and all the completely misplaced/misrouted routes, there are those, too.

Try MapQuest's OSM rendering: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=35.5106&lon=-78.2916&zoom=14&layers=Q
Of course, that rendering shows a US 70 Alt shield on the intersection of US 70 mainline and US 70 Alt, making it look like US 70 is US 70 Alt. If you zoom out, the shield shifts onto US 70 Alt, but as you zoom in, it stays at the intersection.

Take a look at NJ Turnpike exit 8... I really don't know what to say...

I didn't think it'd be that bad... how do Google editors let this stuff happen, when they reject even legit and correct edits? :banghead:

I wish the editor was similar to OSM so we could just jump in and get it all fixed without a whole process.

Well now most of I-74 is multiplexed with I-465 on Google Maps, except for a few sections in NC.

As of this morning, it's STILL that way from near Harrison, Ohio to the Quad Cities of IL/IA. It's supposed to be multiplexed with I-465 only along the Indianapolis beltway. Once it's off there, it's supposed to be on its own. It isn't apparently multiplexed with 465 anywhere from the I-275 loop in Cincinnati to where the western segment of 74 terminates, nor once it takes the turn west onto I-280 in the Quad Cities. I can't find how to remove those shields though, or I'd have done it.
A week or two ago I reported this error through Google Maps. The following day I received a note from them saying that they are unable to process the correction right now. Sounds like it's some technical error that the folks at Google can't quite figure out. LOL

As of tonight (6:56 PM EDT), this error has now finally been fixed.

That's because of the highway "way" being split there.
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/15121388

Because of that way being so "small", the shield shows up in the middle of the intersection.  An unfortunate flaw in Mapnik/Mapquest.

Seems US-331 has been upgraded for it's entire length to "I-331"..... :banghead:

Seriously, I want to know how these stupid edits happen.  Does Google employ monkey's as mods?

They happen for the same reason you pluralized a noun with an apostrophe.

As of 6:38 PM EDT on March 28, 2013, Google Street View has started to recognize Illinois' existence again, but New York State, Kentucky, Ohio and Missouri still don't exist on Street View.  :pan:

IL 160 in Southern Illinois is marked as IL 100 but only in Clinton County

If you zoom in far enough, various unmarked routes are marked as state routes as well in St. Clair County.

If Google is making that many errors within certain days, they really need to rethink how they do the entire world atlas, not just the U.S.

I mean, a US 210 in Montana, an I-90B, a turnpike exit error, and now this I-331 and IL 100. Like I've said before, they must have hired rookie road geeks who make these shitty ass maps like they're from third grade or something! Jesus! Is Google really that stupid?  :eyebrow:
Finally upgraded to Expressway after, what, seven or so years on this forum? Took a dadgum while, but, I made it!

roadman65

In Alma, MI, the US 127 Business route is still marked as "US 27" while its counterpart in St. Louis, MI is marked as US 127B.

I mention the latter to prove that the former was definitely overlooked or the simple fact that Michigan does not log both business routes as the same because of the unique situation here of having two business loops at the same place.  Nonetheless, it has not been US 27 in decades and the newer freeway was changed to US 127 just over 10 years ago.

Those are state highways.  Technically, they are federal aid secondary state routes (or various similar designations), which is why they're labelled "FAS xxx" on Google Maps; you can read more information on them here.  Though they don't have proper route shields, they are also technically signed by number in the field on mile markers like this (the one linked is for MM-0.80 on FAS-910 (Old IL-121 south of Tremont) in Tazewell County.  Of course, I'm sure Google would still rather the labels hadn't ended up on their map.
