I've been working on a new blog for CA 25 on Lewis Creek Road.  The Lewis Creek Road alignment of CA 25 was active from 1934-1953 when maintenance was swapped with Peach Tree Road through Lonoak and Peach Tree Valley.  Interestingly I can't find any information on the transfer of CA 25/LRN 119 from Lewis Creek Road onto Peach Tree Road on any CHPW guide, it just kind of just appears on the 1954 Division of Highways Map.  Lewis Creek Road is notable in that it had numerous fords of Lewis Creek and has to be among the most haggard roadways ever maintained by Division of Highways.  At some point after 1954 part of Lewis Creek Road became a private reserve and the former south terminus of CA 25 at CA 198 near Priest Valley is gated off.  These maps below highlight the early alignment of CA 25 on Lewis Creek Road, I used a 1944 Topographical to highlight any fords of Lewis Creek that have been eliminated:

Something interesting I noted looking back at the CA 25 blog; for some reason the Division of Highways moved Lonoak from Monterey County to San Benito County in the 1950s.  That being the case, the alignment of CA 25 actually swapped circa 1955.  I have no idea why the Division of Highways changed their location of Lonoak, it is well established to be in Monterey County.

I might have found the driver as to why CA 25 was moved off Lewis Creek Road.  Apparently there was some major storms that hit the Diablos in December 1955 that destroyed sections of numerous highways.  The CHPW guides don't outright state it but I found find it improbable that Lewis Creek Road with dirt fords would have held well if at all during a major storm:

CA 25 north of CA 198 to the San Benito County Line shows up on the 1957-58 budget to be surfaced.  This would be the post 1955 alignment on Peach Tree Road through Lonoak:
