Most of the European automakers plan their maintenance cycles around an oil change every 10,000 miles.  For the older SAE standards, an oil change was typically required every 2,500 miles (later 3,000 miles).  Nowadays, there are regular oil blends that will allow vehicles to run as much as 5,000 miles between oil changes.  We've got a vehicle that requires a synthetic that will go about 7,500 miles between oil changes.  But I really worry about the "maintenance cycle" at this level.

Front end alignment needs to be checked about every 30,000 miles or so, and the tire tread and sidewall condition should be checked at about the same schedule.  For older cars, grease fittings ought to be cleaned and refilled every 6 months or 600 hours of operation (whichever comes first), which works out to somewhere between 25,000 and 30,000 miles in most parts of the county.  And I have a hard time estimating the cycle for air cabin filters, but the better house filters really need to be replaced every 3 months with continuous airflow.  That's roughly every 2,200 hours of continuous operation, so I would suspect that the cabin filters really should be replaced every 5 or 6 months.  Being lazy and cheap these days, it is easier to blow off all of this until every 7,500 miles (which is about every year for us, but could be much longer for some).  Goodness, in some parts of the country you need to change wiper blades more frequently than an European oil change every 10,000 miles.  But with oil changes at 75,000 miles or more, chances are pretty good that cars are going to get "inspected" and "maintained" only once a year.
