It is striped for two lanes but there is enough room for three.

Looking at the document in the link above it calls for a two lane bridge.

The specs I read call for a single span with ultimately 6 lanes (3 in each direction), initially striped for 2+2 with a wide shoulder that could be restriped for a third lane if they decide to widen the rest of I-40. Typical of modern bridge upgrades these days.

Good on AHTD for forward thinking by making it a bridge wide enough for 6 lanes (which is desperately needed BTW).

THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO REPLACE THE WHITE RIVER BRIDGE AND CONSTRUCT ROADWAY APPROACHES ON 1.209 MILES OF I-40 IN PRAIRIE COUNTY.
