As for CtrlAltDel's post, well... remember what thread this is.
HB doesn't have to love Hwy Gothic. That's fine. One can be neutral.

But, Clearview? You don't drive a Ford, ergo you drive a Chevy?
"Officer, I'm always careful to drive the speed limit no matter where I am and that's what I was doin'." Said "No, you weren't," she said, "Yes, I was." He said, "Madam, I just clocked you at 22 MPH," and she said "That's the speed limit," he said "No ma'am, that's the route numbah!"  - Gary Crocker

Who else can't stand Highway Gothic?

I have no great love for the font. I don't understand why it's held in such reverence.
I assume you both like Clearview? :eyebrow:

I don't have any problems with Clearview, either. I just don't understand why it's considered heresy for a sign to have anything other than the traditional font.

As long as it's legible/presentable (not Craig County), who cares? Signs can be in comic sans for all I care. Makes no difference to me because I can't tell Arial from Helevetica from VT100.

Hey Jake: can you put Comic Sans on the sign maker? ;)

IMHO, much of the animosity towards the Clearview font is more directed towards how many transportation agencies misinterpreted its intended implementation.  Beyond just overimplementation, many states either made the letter heights unnecessarily larger (Clearview's original intended purpose was to avoid such upsizing) or featured letter spacing that was either too far or too close together; resulting in many signs looking completely disproportionate or like an after-thought.

At what age do you tell a highway that it's been adopted?

Clinched, minus I-93 (I'm missing a few miles and my file is incorrect)

Traveled, plus US 13, 44, and 50, and several state routes

I will be in Burlington VT for the eclipse.

Earthquake advisories, like the ones for the Puente Hills fault for the next 2 yrs gives the L.A. basin shivers (time to prepare) and the Salton Sea fault swarm in Imperial valley (I'm in the Coachella Valley concerned a M7+ could happen in the Desert Trip music fest this weekend).
Get your kicks...on Route 99! Like to turn 66 upside down. The other historic Main street of America.
