Looks like there may have been a Right Turn Lane at one time?  Maybe it was used at the beginning of the turn lane, though the placement would still be a bit odd,  unless that was also used for people turning Left onto CR 454. Then the Yield sign would almost be perfectly placed at the end of the turn lane.

I'm wondering if it was originally facing traffic coming from the south but the intersection was realigned to be at 90 degrees and line up with the road to the north. The gap in the trees and the position would seem to work for that.
