Irv Gordon, who drove his 1966 Volvo P1800 3.2 million miles, has died at the age of 77.

3.2 million in the same car. Top that.

His life, in retirement, was pretty much one continuous road trip.

I thought for sure he would make it to 4 million.

I wonder what will become of the car.

I had the same thought. You would think he made some provision.

It really ought to be in the Volvo museum in Göteborg. But that may not have been his wish.

Or a place like the Revs Institute in Naples, Florida.

If that were my car it'd be a conundrum. On the one hand, I'd hate the idea of it sitting still no longer being driven. On the other hand, I'd sort of hate for someone else to start driving it and likely not maintain it as religiously. By all accounts he didn't allow anyone else, other than the mechanic, to drive the car.

(Interestingly, he put 450,000 miles on the Volvo 780 the company gave him as a present when he reached the first million miles. Most cars don't go that far, let alone most "second cars." )
