I'm willing to bet this game wouldn't be any easier if there was info about the road/location in the picture. I bet if I posted more images from NYS with the route number/location in the pic, (assuming people wouldn't go typing the route into google) most people would still be shocked at the correct answer.

This game isn't that hard really. There's only so many numbers that it could be.

Hard disagree with that. I guess you don't know us well enough yet. If you gave us the route number:

  • Someone may recognize the location and know the answer right away
  • Most of us know the trends by state, which reduces the options (NY doesn't use 60 mph, for example)
  • In most cases, it would be easy to find the exact location on Street View (not even by searching, just by panning to the route and dropping the pegman), so there would almost certainly be cheating.

Also, part of the fun is trying to figure out where the location could be and what the limit might be based on that. If it looks like NY, could it be a 55 mph default, or a 30 mph village limit? If it looks like TX, could it be 85 mph on TX 130, or 75 mph on a two-lane road? etc. etc.

MultiMillionMiler

I bet I could fool you people for a while. NYS may not have 60, but the way they set speed limits is so whacky, inconsistent, and random, you couldn't just go by things like village vs state route. Half the time they don't even stick those rules.

I'll let someone else post as I'm unable to get to a computer anytime soon...

Someone else can post if they are interested.

It's lagging on mine as well, it might be a universal problem.

Looks like one of those NY parkways when they go down to 35 for the tight ramps, so I'll guess 35.

Not a New York Parkway, but it is 35 mph.

VA-114 Peppers Ferry Rd heading westbound at its eastern terminus, just east of the US-460 freeway in Christiansburg built in the early 2000s.
