UMass football has no traffic because nobody cares about UMass football
This actually isn't true, as UMass' team has had ups and downs over the years.  See 2006 and 2007.

That said, traffic to the stadium is greatly helped by decent access roads (MA 116 and University Drive) and larger-than-needed parking lots (which aren't exclusively for the stadium, but also overflow campus parking).

IIRC, UMass football plays (or played) a number of its home games at Gillette Stadium in an attempt to grow their fan base. Given their record of late, I'm not sure it created any major traffic issues on I-95 or US-1. New England isn't as much into college football as other parts of the country are.

They were a good FCS team, it's been all downhill since joining FBS

As. An alum, it pains me to say that you're right.

Michigan (I-94 and also M-14) and Michigan State (I-96 and I-496)

Several of the ramps connecting I-275 and M-14 have been closed this summer for the I-275 reconstruction.  Michigan's first home game is tomorrow, and I'm sure it's no coincidence those ramps are scheduled to be reopened by end of day today (according to the MI Drive website).
