These pictures look awesome! My one question: Is the half hour time difference between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland Island that big a deal?

No big deal at all......and really no different than setting your watch ahead when going from Central to Eastern time or Eastern to Atlantic time at the Maine/New Brunswick border except Atlantic to NFLD time is only a half hour change.

The ferry departure time is Nova Scotia (Atlantic) time then just set your watch ahead as all times for meals and entertainment on the ferry are given in NFLD time. There are announcements reminding you of the time change.

Just do it all in reverse when heading back.

Changes between Daylight Savings Time and Standard Time happen on the same dates in Canada as they do in the US.

My goodness, what kind of camera do you have?

A Cannon Rebel T2i plus a couple of lenses.....always had pretty good luck with it.

When I've visited Newfoundland, and wanted to catch TV shows from U.S. stations (many hotels' cable systems include the Boston affiliates of the major U.S. networks), or do other things keyed to Eastern time, the odd one-and-a-half hour time difference threw me for a loop more than a simple one-hour or two-hour difference.

Any old highway shields?  I like seeing the old trapezoid.  I'd love to see pre-trapezoid but I don't think thye had erected highway signs back then...

See http://www.alaskaroads.com/photos-Newfoundland.htm for some really old markers (still trapezoids, with one trapezoid cutout).  I saw those on my 2003 visit, not sure any were still around for my 2011 visit, which covered less ground on Newfoundland island and in particular none of the southeast part of the island.

I don't have all that many pages, so browse around. I probably found about 10 trapezoids.
