Sure, why not have a road meet in Connecticut this April. The focus will be on the Waterbury and Meriden, CT areas. Meriden is where steamed hams originated, so it is not purely an Albany expression. But there's some neat things about the roads there too.
Highlights to include: I-84/CT 8 Mixmaster interchange in Waterbury (from the highways, but also at ground level as it is a massive interchange to appreciate), Meriden Traffic Tower, Red Bridge in Meriden, some old or interesting signs, a few other goodies along the way that I am going to throw into the tour.
Time/Date: Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 12pm Eastern time

I don't see any reason I won't be able to make this thing, so...
Party at my house in Wethersfield afterwards, will provide grilled meats and beer and snacks, additional details to come - if you are interested and do not respond on facebook message me, all welcome to come.
I wish I could attend! Have a great time.

Interested. You should include Castle Craig as part of the part, since it's awesome.

The road to the castle doesn't open until May 1st, which is after the Hubbard Park Daffodil Festival in late April.

I would have loved to included Castle Craig, since that would've been a great way to end the meet. But it's not open to drive up in a car in early April. You can hike up to Castle Craig and I believe it's a 4 mile round trip hike up to the top, but there would be a mutiny if I had that as part of the meet itinerary.
I expect to (at least) make an appearance. If you're (un)lucky, you'll be stuck with me for the entire day. :-|

We could do it Sunday as a post-meet activity.
Also, I'm signing up to run a 5K in Waterbury as a pre-meet activity! https://runsignup.com/Race/CT/Waterbury/ChrisCorbett5K
I unfortunately will not be able to attend this meet due to a variety of factors. I hope everyone has fun!
Given that we're within a couple weeks, will there be tour notes posted soon? I've been thinking about whether I'll be wanting to fill in any potential clinch gaps.
And I'm assuming it's not too late to RSVP to the event. Had been thinking about going and want to know if I should go ahead start putting concrete plans into place.
Seeing this is pretty much in my backyard, I would have loved to attend this. Unfortunately, it's right smack dab in the middle of my busiest part of the year. If it were a month (or even 3 weeks) later, I'd be there.

I am working on tour notes but haven't had the time to spend much time on them. I should have them available hopefully by Sunday night. As for closing clinching gaps, I am planning on having a I-691 clinch and I-84 between CT 8 and I-691 towards the end of the tour.

And while I am working on the tour notes, I do have a rough Google Map of the meet itinerary.

Nice! Since what I'm mainly worried about are map gaps on TM, it looks like what I would mainly be looking to get to fill things in/make sure that added points on TM don't cause issue would be local to the Meriden/Wallingford area, and should be easy enough to add to my regularly planned travel during my trip to/from the meet.
I'm pleased to announce that the "Road Meet Simulcast" feature will be making a return to the air waves this upcoming weekend. The live stream *simulcast* of the driving tour for the Waterbury/Meriden, CT Road Meet will be broadcast on the "roadwaywiz" YouTube channel on Saturday (4/2), likely beginning sometime around 1 PM ET. For those of you who can't attend in person, this will be a good way to keep up with what you're missing out on. Looking forward to seeing meet attendees in person and viewers in the live chat!

Looks like this is going to miss our lunch by two days. (https://www.wsls.com/weather/2022/03/30/aurora-borealis-to-be-visible-in-the-us-after-strong-geomagnetic-storm/)
The good news is is that Connecticut's gas tax will temporarily be suspended starting Friday so fill 'em up: https://portal.ct.gov/Office-of-the-Governor/News/Press-Releases/2022/03-2022/Governor-Lamont-Signs-Emergency-Legislation-Suspending-Excise-Tax-on-Gas-From-April-1-to-June-30
I still plan to attend the meet. Plans on getting to/from there are a bit more debatable.
I'm out of town this weekend. Otherwise, I could have made this one.
Will be bringing some goodies and some other crap for give-away on Saturday at the Meet, including NY Thruway toll tickets and a few other items; refer to the post on the above-linked FB event page for more previews. :-|
I am planning on attending this meet. Sorry for the last-minute notice; but things have been very busy on my end with work & stuff.
Looking forward to it.

That guy also missed way past dinner as well.
Mark: for some reason, your photo isn't showing for me.
Re meet: despite being in New England, couldn't make it as I was working yesterday.
