Save the date - I'm hosting a meet in Lynchburg, VA on Saturday, June 11th. I'll update as I nail down more details, but included on the itinerary:

I cannot wait for this one (even though I will eventually have to come back to reclinch US 221).

I'm probably not going to make this meet.

Very excited to see this event is happening and I'm eager to explore a corner of Virginia that'll be new to me.  :-| :D

I put in for the time off, so assuming that's approved I'll see everybody there.

Time off approved and a hotel booked in Roanoke. It's happening.

Interested.  As long as we're good to stay in hotels from a COVID-19 perspective by that point, I expect that I'll be there.

Is this instead of or in addition to the Maryland panhandle meet that you were planning?

Takumi

I might be able to come. It's a straight shot down 460 for me.

Olive Garden must be stopped.  I must stop them.

Don't @ me. Seriously.

I am limiting to 1 additional long distance trip and that trip won't be this one unfortunately.  Therefore, I will see myself out.

In addition to!

Bitmapped

I'm tentatively a yes for this meet. It's been since 2015 that I've been in that area and a decade since I've been in Lynchburg proper, so it would be nice to make a return trip.

74/171FAN

I just reserved my hotel for this meet. My parents are planning to drive east from Prince George, VA, as well.  We will be driving separately because I am currently planning to do scouting for the RDU Meet the morning of June 10th.

Takumi

I'll be traveling elsewhere that weekend. I'm out.

Hope y'all have fun!  Drove through Lynchburg a few times fairly recently going b/w Hampton Roads and Roanoke using the scenic non-I-81 route.  Wish I could come up there to spend more time and see more than just straight-thru on US 460, but it's hard for me to make it to any road meet anymore since I'm out of town during the week for work 90% of the time and I'm needed at home on the weekends.

The drive from here to there is a very scenic one -- mostly all US 460 once I get to Prestonsburg -- and it's a really pretty area of the country. But due to the record high gas prices, the fact that I drive a not-very-fuel-efficient vehicle that's 32 years old and is of questionable trustworthiness to make such a journey, and other financial considerations, I can't be there.

If the itinerary becomes public, perhaps I can come recreate the tour at some point when gas prices return to reasonable (2020) levels and my vehicle situation improves.

In the meantime, if anyone is interested in some historic signs not too far from Roanoke, Clifton Forge is full of old US 60, US 220, and VA 188 cutouts.

I will be driving down from Washington, DC on Saturday morning (and back that evening). If someone wants to hitch, I’m willing to give a ride from city proper or NoVA, if you’ll pitch in by filling up the tank for the return trip.

Must say I'm impressed you still have that truck we've seen at past meets.

Not that one. I still have it in my possession, but it's inoperable. Frame rot.

My Saturn Vue is out of commission until I can figure out a way to bypass the hybrid system on it, as there's a charging issue related to the hybrid system that causes the 12-volt system not to charge.

I'm driving a 1990 Chevy 1500 Silverado pickup that I inherited from my dad. It only has 140,000 miles on it, but fuel economy is awful. Plus. with a vehicle that old, you never know what might break down far from home.

The meet iteniary for Saturday is complete and can be viewed at the dropbox link below:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/9gfkab8597p644r/Lynchburg%20Meet%20Iteniary.docx?dl=0

I will have 8 copies available for distribution (not including my own), which should be enough to cover everyone. In case it isn't and you want to be safe, please feel free to bring your own copy.

Weather forecast for Saturday looks fairly decent after early-week threats of rain. Should be a pleasant day for a walk/drive. Looking forward to seeing you all!

Also a last minute reminder about the whole live stream thing I discussed previously. You've been warned. Again.  :-|

Thank you, Dan, for all of your help!

I've had a crazy week and while I put all of the routes and stops together he helped me immensely with getting it all written down!
