I'm currently in Park City, UT for the week and the ski conditions are fantastic! No ice on the hill.

Tonight's low is a brisk -25C/-13 F, but the temperature will warm up by Wednesday with a high of -2C/29F. Lots of blue skies for the week which is nice too.

You're experiencing one of Utah's strongest arctic blasts in recent memory. Peter Sinks just off US 89 by Beaver Mountain dropped to -63F last night, which is the coldest that site has been since at least 2002 and probably longer than that. Logan got down to -30F, which is one degree short of the -31F it measured on that 2002 day.

Even Salt Lake City, usually the warmest spot in northern Utah, only got up to 20F today. A high that cold last happened on two days in January 2017 and before that hadn't happened since the exceptionally cold winter of 2013.

Our apartment just had the fire alarm go off in the 10° weather. The alarm itself was malfunctioning. They told us we could go back inside with the alarm still on. (It's on as I type this.)
Clinched, minus I-93 (I'm missing a few miles and my file is incorrect)

I will be in Burlington VT for the eclipse.

This week we got into the 70s on a couple days, very sunny. This weekend has been pretty cloudy, but no rain, and upper 60s to 70 ish. Very pleasant overall.

Apparently lots of rain coming in this next week, but pretty warm. Mid to upper 70s. Certainly makes the rain a bit more bearable.

Ted$8roadFan

Cloudy and 22. Already downright balmy compared to yesterday.

It has warmed up considerably after an extremely cold Friday/Saturday.

The joys of living in a semi-tropical climate.

BROWNSVILLE:      86 high (+11);  67 low (+11)
CORPUS CHRISTI:  84 high (+12);  65 low (+11)
LAREDO:               88 high (+15);  66 low (+15)
McALLEN:              90 high (+14);  68 low (+12)

The in-flow of tropical moisture from the Gulf of Mexico is keeping our dew points close to 70 degrees in many places, a few over 70 degrees.  The result:  heat index ranging from upper 80s to mid 90s.

Of the daily record highs in January 2023, it was almost an even split between Texas and Florida:  14 days in Texas, 16 days in Florida, and one day in San Diego, CA.  The average of the record highs was 88 degrees.  It was mostly an unusually mild January in both states with 30 of the 31 days exceeding 80 degrees, and nine of those days in 90's; Florida saw two days and Texas saw seven days at or exceeding 90 degrees.  The only record high that failed to reach 80 degrees was San Diego's 74 degrees was the warmest day in the country on January 27th.  The warmest days of January 2023 were 92 degrees on New Years Day at Falcon Lake, Texas; and January 16th at McAllen and Sullivan City, Texas.  In addition, four nights in the Rio Grande Valley area where the low temperature remained at or above 70 degrees.

When are these cities ever not going to be way above average?

For what it's worth that cold blast (caused by the polar vortex) that tore through the country brought extreme cold here too for a couple of days, the first three days of February saw temperatures that failed to reach 55 degrees at any time during that period (guess I forgot to mention that on here).

Also the RGV area saw highs over 70 degrees nearly every day last month, twenty of those days over 80 degrees, several days over 90 degrees.  As mentioned before January turned out to be overall above average for the area/region.
