The Link 101 project in southern Indiana is NOT moving forward...

On the project page (https://link101corridor.com/):
"The proposed Link 101 project is not moving forward. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) continuously reevaluates its priorities, and as the Preliminary Alternatives Screening Report was completed, the milestone marked a logical point to reevaluate this project.

A combination of higher than anticipated construction costs, low projected travel benefits, and public feedback sessions that overwhelmingly supported a more moderate approach led to the decision to forego a broader new-terrain project. Instead, INDOT will prioritize preservation of local corridor assets, in line with public feedback.

The preliminary alternatives recommendations had anticipated costs of $350 million to more than $450 million. The anticipated cost is a substantial increase from the original estimated cost of $200 million that was announced in 2021. In addition to higher than anticipated costs, lower traffic volumes limit total benefits to users. There has also been widespread opposition voiced to the project, both in public meetings and through project communication channels."

You essentially have a route to connect those segments of IN 101 already.

US 50 W -> IN 262 W -> Bear Branch Rd S -> Fairview Rd S -> IN 56 W -> IN 156 E

I've driven both of those county roads and they are in decent shap. If they wanted to upgrade them to state highway standards so that they could sign IN 101, I wouldn't be against it, but with GPS people can find that route without the signage.

Building any new terrain roadway was never feasible. There just aren't enough people going from here to there.
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

a new giant arrow per lane sign has been installed just after the MLK/West street interchange on SB 65. probably there to direct drivers into the correct lane for the north split interchange and collector just down the road. major backups have been happening worse than before construction have been happening and it appears to be because people are confused. maybe this will help.

Just spent a little time watching the Washington Street ramp at I465 traffic camera to see how the new ramp metering is doing.  Have to say the drivers are more clueless than I expected.  Some ignore the light and drive right through and some are stopping far in advance of the red light so that the signal doesn't detect their presence and doesn't give them a green.  Eventually the sensors further down the ramp detect the backup and let everyone through to clear the ramp.  Not a good start.

Just watched a few minutes of the ramp meters being activated, and people are so dumb that it backed the traffic to the intersection... Kinda knew that it was going to be a s**t storm when activated!

Looks like that's the case at US 52 as well. Would not surprise me if Emerson sees it soon too. What an absolute waste of INDOT's time and money.

Edit: People are literally completely ignoring the Emerson Avenue ones. Saw nobody stop for a good 2-3 minutes!
Apparently I’m a fan of I-69.  Who knew.

Milwaukee has had this in I-41 for over 20 years (when it was still called 894), and there were no issues with it. I just can't understand why people here are so dumb. :)
