Excessive use of emojis isn't exactly a good thing :pan:

I do agree, though, with your other points  :-/

Day off from school today?
No, just posting in school.

Hope it's in a boring class then  :)
I can multask.

Obviously not spelling class.

It's never spelling class...
We don't have spelling class in high school.

Trust me...it shows.

You in all likelihood did have spelling in elementary school, and rudimentary English spelling rules.  Might be pertinent to review and exercise the use of such.

Spellcheck never injured anyone either.

/Vocabulary, on the other hand, is most fun.

We didn't have a class in spelling, but we got marked off for spelling errors in all written work we turned in.  English, social studies, geometry, anything.  High school students should know how to spell.

It was the same at my school for English classes and foreign language classes. In other classes that required writing or typing, misspellings would generally not have points taken off.

My 10th grade history teacher made these mistakes herself, plus many other minor ones:
1. Succeed instead of secede multiple times, to the point where "What was the first state to succeed from the Union?" was the first question on a particular quiz.
2. "Why did the Morons move west?" (Should be Mormons.)
Clinched, minus I-93 (I'm missing a few miles and my file is incorrect)

Traveled, plus US 13, 44, and 50, and several state routes

I will be in Burlington VT for the eclipse.

That lends itself to a very interesting and smarmy answer.

Marked off for all errors? That sounds kind of harsh.

Not at all. You should know how to spell 99% of words by the time you take those classes. There's the occasional obscure word, but basic stuff should be correct.

We seemed to have strayed far from the original topic and have stooped to arguments over spelling.  I think this thread has run its course.
