Paper Maps Forever

Hey folks - Looking for insight, historic articles, etc regarding the one-time proposed West Shore Expressway in the Harrisburg area. I have a handful of legacy maps that show a proposed expressway that connects from the 83/581 split, through the near West Shore. With an interchange at the Camp Hill bypass/21st Street interchange. Terminating at I-81. The proposed termination at 81 was part of the 81 plan as the north and south lanes are split between exits 61 and 65.

It was scrapped for some reason. Eventually, 581 connecting to 81 was the final design.

Other than the aforementioned maps that show the proposal, I find no info.

Any concrete info would be much appreciated as it is rather intriguing.

A map that a forum member posted several years ago.
Ah yes that was me

Sounds like OP has the same map?

I suspect the ROW ended up being used for East Penn Drive.   When was that upgraded from old Center St?  I love using East Penn Dr as a shortcut over 11/15.
