The naming could have been much, much worse.  ;-)

I don't get it. Other Interstate highways are named after important people. Why can't Florida do that after 295 takes over?

because anyone who liked Ronald Reagan will be dead in 20 years.

^^ I understand that, but it seems like the legilsature, from what I'm understanding, is saying that they can't give an Interstate an honorary designation when the federal government takes over.

I-285 (also S.R. 407) has several honorary designations: Bob A. Holmes and  James "Billy" Mckinney, to name a few.
