Hey y'all,

I had to post this, because today I encountered a dumb driver. Nearly took off the front of my car, they did.

Here's the video.

That guy (trailer) is being a little too careful.

Bryant5493

^^ It also doesn't help that a lot of people use the lane that's merging to race in front of other cars, especially when there isn't a lot of time and distance to pass the slower moving vehicle(s) safely.

In response to Bryant5493's video, traffic on VA 36 East/Oaklawn Blvd at SR 1337/Crossings Blvd at the Prince George-Hopewell border backs up a lot turning left onto Crossings Blvd NB towards Oaklawn Plaza.  This scene is from January 27, 2009 and I'm sure that this happens quite often as I ride through that intersection at least once a week.

^^ Stuff like that doesn't make sense. :banghead:

People are desperate to not have to sit at a stoplight and the green arrow for VA 36 East is always green whenever the thru traffic lights are green.  Actually not long before this scene someone had taken out the power system for the signal and the light was out for at least two weeks.

^^ Wow! That sucks.

Looks to me like that Nissan truck and the Cherokee was more the problem there. He should have merged in front of the trailer with the order going Cherokee-Nissan-Trailer-Grand Prix-You.

The Nissan got over early and presumably accelerate leaving the Cherokee stuck between the trailer and the Nissan. Then the Cherokee got caught in the right lane and the trailer neglected to brake to let him in, so he had to slam his brakes. At taht point the order should have gone Nissan-Cherokee-Trailer-Grand Prix-You

The Grand Prix then made an idiotic evasive manuver and snuck around the Cherokee  (who by then should have merged).

At that point  the Grand Prix and you should have hit your brakes with the order going  Nissan-Trailer-Cherokee-Grand Prix-You

I'd blame the Nissan and Cherokee for that all the way. The Grand Prix made a poor evasive manuvre, but the Cherokee should have gone in front of the trailer and the trailer should have slowed to accomodate that and the Nissan should have let the Cherokee stay in front.

From what I can see in that video though the Cherokee was being very unclear with its intentions and it looks like the Grand Prix made that manuver to avoid rear ending him

If the Nissan wouldn't have cut in front of the Cherokee and the trailer would have slowed down once that happened, the whole situation could have been avoided

Bryant5493

^^ That Cherokee was actually turning onto a side road, right after the right lane ended. I agree, if people had merged properly, this all could've been avoided. Unfrotunately, it never happens that way.

This happened about 25 years ago but I'll never forget it.  I can't believe any driver could be so stupid!  I'm in the left lane on 36th ST in Wyoming, MI, stopped at a red light in front of the GM plant parking lot.  A lady in the right lane runs the red light never even slowing down.  I honk at her as she's running through the light.  She has to stop for a train about 150-200 yards past the light.  Apparently after stopping for the train she checked her rearview mirror and realized she had just run a red light, so she backs up all the way through the red light and stops where she should have in the first place.  Fortunately there were no other cars or pedestrians around at the time.  I was laughing so hard after that I thought I might cause an accident!

Bryant5493

^^ That's funny because it's so dumb (lol).

I hate when people back up when the light turns red, when they are yielding in the intersection to through traffic, so that they may turn left.
