Roads in existing systems to be considered for addition

Several users have suggested specific roads to add to TM that weren't included in CHM for various reasons.  This is meant to be a centralized list of roads to consider, and a place to discuss their merits.

Please note that discussion of other *systems* (such as state highway systems not yet in development) is happening elsewhere and doesn't need to be duplicated here.  The roads here are part of systems that TM (and CHM) include already.  Also, since it's anticipated that all US state highway and Canadian provincial highway systems will be added eventually, it doesn't seem particularly important to suggest any additions to "US Select Numbered State Freeways".

My nominations:

Florida (usasf)
Selmon Expy has number; will be added as part of the FL state roads set

Kentucky (usasf)
Hal Rogers Pkwy added

New York (usasf)
Cross County Pkwy added
Inner Loop (Rochester)
Jackie Robinson Pkwy
Korean War Vets Pkwy
Mosholu Pkwy
New York State Thruway Berkshire Connector (between I-87 and I-90) added
Robert Moses Pkwy (Niagara Falls)
Saw Mill River Pkwy added

Ohio (usasf)
Ronald Reagan Cross County Hwy (west of US27) added

Texas (usasf)
Chisholm Trail Pkwy added
Fort Bend Pkwy added

That is posted as FL-618 and will be added as part of the Florida State Highway system.

While it theoretically 'adds nothing', I don't see why the NYST shouldn't be in the usasf system. Yes, there's a miniscule amount of extra maintainance, but it adds a signed named freeway to the named freeway system.

Likewise other interstates / us/state routes with named routes signed with shields (mostly toll roads).

I suppose one thing it and additions like it could add is that someone who, for example, has traveled some segment of the NYST (or the NJTP, PA Tpke, Ohio Tpke, and any others that span multiple route numbers or carry a route number only in part) could add just the named road to their .list and let the concurrency detection figure out which parts were also which interstates.

I'm not necessarily arguing in favor of it, but I suppose we could add an "Adirondack Northway" route to usasf and extend south of Exit 1 (the I-90 interchange) so it would include the Crossgates Mall exit and down to the US 20 connection.

Yes, there is that.

I'd limit these duplicating routes simply to routes that have names signed (either spelt out or shields) on BGS or Route Confirmation (mileage signs).

IMO, they could be worthwhile to add if the name is separate from the number (as is the case with the Thruway).  Of course, this is nuanced, otherwise one would bring down many of the named expressways in NYC.

My aversion to redundant clutter makes me really not like the idea of putting named routes in the system that are entirely concurrent with numbered routes. I'd just put the 21A-B1 segment of the Berkshire Thruway in usasf and leave it at that.

I also nominate the following to be added for New York:
- Loop Parkway
- Ocean Parkway (Long Island)
- Bethpage Parkway
- JFK Expressway
- Bear Mountain Parkway

If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

Chisholm Trail Pkwy
Fort Bend Pkwy
These were added with last night's big Texas update.
The Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road and Fort Bend Toll Road are apparently two separate entities with two separate shields, so they were added as separate routes.

New York:
Once upon a time I drafted a file for the Saw Mill River Pkwy. I guess I never saved it, though. Well... Poo!
With the demolition of part of the Inner Loop freeway, will the Inner Loop still be signed, with its distinctive shield, over surface roads?
"Officer, I'm always careful to drive the speed limit no matter where I am and that's what I was doin'." Said "No, you weren't," she said, "Yes, I was." He said, "Madam, I just clocked you at 22 MPH," and she said "That's the speed limit," he said "No ma'am, that's the route numbah!"  - Gary Crocker

Has any more thought been given to adding the Hal Rogers Parkway in Kentucky? It's a gaping hole in my map.  :-/

It appears a number of the roads on mapcat's list have been added including the recent addition of the Ronald Reagan Parkway in OH.

Nice progress on getting these into the system.

Thing 342

I'd like to see these added to usasf and usansf:
Minnesota Dr. Expressway in Anchorage, AK
Johansen Expy in Fairbanks, AK
Bryan Blvd in Greensboro, NC
Sugarloaf Pkwy in Lawrenceville, GA
GA-141 / Peachtree Industrial Blvd in Dunwoody, GA
A continuous number for GA-10-LOOP in Athens

Should be added soon.

Routes like these will only be added once the state highway system for Georgia is started.

Wow, that didn't take long.  :)
