A ribbon cutting was held this morning to officially open I-49 at I-220. Too bad it wasn't announced sooner.

Wasn't the interchange covered during the Shreveport road meet earlier this year? I wasn't there however.

The official announcement, via LADOTD press release:

And, they finally got it right in saying this, too:

Long-term plans call for I-49 to be extended from Lafayette to New Orleans and north from Shreveport to Kansas City, MO, where it will connect with other interstates and provide a seamless link from Louisiana ports to the Canadian border.

Onward now to I-49 South and the Shreveport ICC.

What about the segment between I-20 and I-220?

It was still under construction at that time.

Okay. Just curious as to whether or not it was a part of that road meet. Thanks.

We definitely covered it during the meet. Even got to see a horse on site tethered to a fence post.

That's what they mean by the ICC (Inner-City Connector). Still in the pipeline AFAIK.

Found the official website.  Looks like they still haven't decided on the exact route yet, and that there will be serious urban right-of-way impacts.

Looks like no matter what alternative is chosen, it'll all go through the exact same areas, seeing how they are all bunched up together. But at least the I-20 and I-220 interchanges are open to traffic, with further modifications to be done in case construction on the ICC gets underway, and they will need all the luck in the world they can find on that.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!
