How is TxDot still using the northbound bridge when there are two supports that spans the north and southbound lanes? Using a temporary support under the middle of the column?

I have driven over this interchange many times, for TxDot to simplify it, did car counts go down? Or was it over designed in the first place?
Has the Waco Traffic Circle always been in that location, even before Interstate 35 was built and US 81 still went through town?

It's been there since 1935.

This is the only circle I know of in Waco

obsolescence due to the US77 business route being the original route in Waco prior to the I35 destination. They are pulling down US 77 business interchanges in certain locations as the bridges come up for replacement. I think the US84 interchange is coming down too if I'm not mistaken.
After that, they are going to take down the Interstate 35 bridges.
This question is about to be a moot point. Click on the video and the northbound traffic has been moved off the old highway. The old bridge will be coming down any day now.
I found pictures answering my question. TxDot constructed a temporary support to support the beam.

A lot of work for such a temporary solution.
The construction built a temporary support to help keep the bridge up, while it demolished the other leg. Alot of work for such a temporary situation, but neccessary. Find this kind of engineering fascinating.
