Not really.

The box score never tells the whole story.
I could interpret this comment as either agreeing or disagreeing with me, since he had such bizarre stats.

Bottom line is that 212 pass yards and 2 TDs on 9 completions - not to mention the sub-50 completion percentage - is not a sustainable way to succeed in the NFL. A similar thing happened with Jameis Winston on the Saints a few years ago. His TD/INT ratio was incredible, but the rest of his stats indicated that his pace was not sustainable. Everyone wanted him to start permanently, turns out he still stinks.

I didn't watch much of the HOU/IND game but I can tell you for certain that the next 16 teams to face Indy will not let those bomb completions happen without making the Colts stretch the defense laterally first. They'll force Richardson to play the NFL version of the quarterback position instead of the college one, and we'll see if he's up to the task.

While Caleb certainly wasn't at his best, at least I was able to celebrate a Bears win to open the new season.

Meanwhile, that Disney boycott is picking up steam, thanks to DirecTV customers losing ESPN, ABC and all related networks. And the way I see it, I don't think it'll end before the NBA season tips off, which means at least half of the MNF slate will be gone, starting with Jets-49ers (which, at the moment, the home team is leading with 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter).
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

Max Rockatansky

I was fine with the Lions pulling it out against the Rams.  That was a game until recently they would have just lost after they blew the lead.  The secondary didn't look good in the second half.  It is hard to get an assessment given they were playing against Matt Stafford and for a while (before injury) at least really good receiving group.

Watch the game that just happened and tell me McCaffrey should have been MVP last year. ROFL. Shanahan will make his offense work with any running back as long as the QB is competent. McCaffrey's stats potray him as a centerpiece; he's just a luxury item.

Quote from: webny99 on September 03, 2024, 10:07:09 PMIt was down to the Vikings or Giants for the final NFC fork and I decided the Giants have slightly more upside and an easier path to a wild card.

Well, it sure didn't take long for this to look like a terrible decision. Week 1 went as poorly as possible for this prediction and the The Giants are already on fork watch.

Adding CAR. Should have probably done them before the season, but the NFC South used to produce some surprises. But they looked like hot garbage.

Let's break down last week before leaping into this week's predictions.

Quote from: jlam on September 04, 2024, 11:11:57 PMRavens 29 @ Chiefs 27 (9 pts off)
Packers 23 vs Eagles 17 (23 pts off)
Steelers 16 @ Falcons 18 (10 pts off)
Cardinals 19 @ Bills 28 (15 pts off)
Titans 10 @ Bears 16 (15 pts off)
Patriots 6 @ Bengals 26  :-(  (26 pts off)
Texans 20 @ Colts 17 (19 pts off)
Jaguars 30 @ Dolphins 34 (27 pts off)
Panthers 13 @ Saints 21 (28 pts off)
Vikings 14 @ Giants 9 (17 pts off)
Raiders 28 @ Chargers 16 (24 pts off)
Broncos 16 @ Seahawks 17 (13 pts off)

Commanders 20 @ Buccaneers 23 (14 pts off)
Rams 27 @ Lions 35 (16 pts off)
Jets 19 @ 49ers 24 (8 pts off)

Some good predictions, some bad predictions. I took shots at many underdogs, but none managed to pull it off. My solid second half of the week made up for a dismal first half, but I lost my freebie for my Survivor pool. An 11-5 record this week.

I'm not sure how I made that mistake. I guess seeing the Titans up 17-0 in that game made me subconsciously assume they won.

I'll take a 14-2 opening week.

Here goes Week 2:

Dolphins
Cowboys
Lions
Packers
Titans
Niners
Seahawks
Commanders
Chargers
Jaguars
Ravens = survivor pick
Rams
Broncos
Chiefs
Texans
Falcons

Previous survivor picks: Saints
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

I know, how dare I pick a primetime game for Survivor this week and all. The pick could easily backfire.

Back to reality for da Bears, as they lose on the road in Houston with CJ Stroud getting the best of Caleb Williams...

And it looks like DirecTV has a new deal with Disney, so MNF is back after a one-week hiatus, as are the WNBA, NBA and college football, among others.

No you can fork the Vikings. The division is so much better than them. Even the Bears have a legit shot at a playoff spot.
Packers and Lions will fight for the division crown. Each likely 12-5. Bears I can see being 10-7 or 9-8. Vikings will be lucky to be 4-13.

I'll take that bet for the over of 4.5.

I'll still take that bet! Darnold looked pretty darn good. We'll see if he can be consistent.

Still willing to take the bet!

Got my tickets for the Packers in Nashville on Sunday. I can take the leisurely drive down on Saturday. Maybe clinch a couple counties on the way down. Forecast says 91. Yikes!

The Texans have taken their first two games of a season for the first time since 2016, and now this year is their eighth (8th) time in Texans history they started out 2-0.  Only one of those years did they extend their winning streak past two games before their first loss and that was the 2012 season where they started out 5-0, all five of those games they had double-digit leads.

If the Texans want their second 3-0 start of all-time, they will have to do something never before done ever in franchise history -- beat the Minnesota Vikings -- this Sunday afternoon.  The Vikings are undefeated against the Texans...a perfect 5-0 record.  So history favors betting on the Vikings and if they prevail yet again, they'll extend their undefeated streak to 6-0 all time against the Texans.
We're so far south that we're not even considered "The South"

Still laughing how Dallas got thumped by New Orleans Sunday.  After all the hype about how CeeDee and Dax need to deliver after getting paid. :-D

Minnesota; they're starting out the same way they did last year.  Quite well with a new, old QB at the helm.

I've seen a lot of Caleb Williams in my market so far this season.  Nothing feels that different from the early days of Bears' previous high draft picks at QB so far.  The same flashes of talent with the same flashes of "oh he's running for his life again."

It's a good thing the Colts run defense is abysmal and they're still breaking in a rookie QB, otherwise the Pack would be 0-2.  Willis did okay, but I don't see a guy who's gonna march you down the field to come from behind late. No Love this week yet, so we'll see how this goes in Nashville.  Going to need to finish more drives than last week, I'm thinking. It's great to ground n' pound half a quarter with Jacobs, but settling for 3 too many times is going to eventually bite you.

Tom Brady sucks as a broadcaster.  I don't care what you know as an analyst, if you've got an annoying voice, you're a poor fit for the job.  And that obnoxious commercial Fox has with him makes me want to put an axe thru my TV.  Like they want me to hate him.
