I still stubbornly use Tapatalk to access this forum on my phone. Getting a big fat network error. Logged out, removed the group from it...nope, uninstalled it, reinstalled it...Tapatalk and AARoads are just going through another period of not talking to each other again.
It may be related to the server switch to php 8.0. Will look into it.
Tapatalk wasn't on the fritz? I find that app is always really finnicky. Not an enjoyable experience to use in my opinion.

I suppose we can make it about him. I mean, he's been told he doesn't have to respond to every thread...

Same thing, just tried to load it on an iPhone iOS 16.x. Updated the app, same thing.

It still shows "snapshots" of recent threads and thumbnails of photos recently uploaded, if that's any help at all...

Don't know if you were talking to RGT or me, but if you were talking to me, I'm sorry. I just wanted to mention my thoughts on Tapatalk in general.

I was just sharing that the chrome website works just fine, in case anyone was wondering...

No, I was talking to RGT, because he seems to have a compulsion to post even when he doesn't have anything relevant to say.

Or finally upgrading the forum to 2.0.19.
Either way, I'll look into updating Tapatalk later tonight.
Try again. Just patched it.

Searching for "using Τapatalk" (I used a Greek capital tau to avoid autofiltering here but not in the search), which is automatically appended to any Tapatalk message, returns six results from 2023 with five unique users. There were many more 2022s than 2023s, though (it gave 30 total results on the first page).

I use it from time-to-time, but I generally do my best to avoid browsing the forums on mobile. It would be nice to have better mobile functionality, but this is a site that's more geared towards longer and more-thought out messages anyways.

I thought that was something you could remove from your Tapatalk signature. I think I removed it, and I've definitely made some Tapatalk posts recently. So that is likely under-representative.

I turn off my Tapatalk signature, but that only seemed to have my phone model in it. I take it the Tapatalk appendage is hidden or something like that.
Seems to now be working on my end.
I primarily use Tapatalk when I want to post a photo because it can host photos. It's a little buggy–it sometimes takes two or three tries–but it usually works.
The advertisement in the signature can be disabled.

It's not working for me yet. I get a big long error saying something about a "Server Error Occurred".

Try clearing the app's cache. That's all I can suggest, as I don't use it myself.

There was no option to clear the cache, so I just uninstalled and re-installed it. It's still giving the same issue.
FWIW, this is what it's showing on the app. It's probably something on Tapatalk's end. If it doesn't get fixed, I can probably just get rid of the app on my phone. (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/gallery/12408_03_04_23_12_04_23.jpeg)

I am without issue, so it's not on their end.
I got a message similar to the above on Friday when I was using Firefox on my PC, but it cleared up within about half an hour so I didn't mention it at the time. (Couldn't tell you whether it was exactly the same.)
I noticed that the other day. I took some pictures yesterday and posted them on my phone and it worked fine.
So I guess I can still read threads but they are not organized into the regions like we have on the web version. I will give it a week to see if it fixes itself otherwise, I'll just get rid of the app. Thanks for your help everyone.

That depends on which view you use within Tapatalk. At the bottom of the screen, tap on "Forums." Despite that misleading name (most of us would consider it all a single "forum"), that view would normally give you the same organized list of regional, national, etc., subfora that you get when you view the website. I say "normally" because when I viewed it through Tapatalk just now, using the "Forums" view returned the error message shown above and it wouldn't display anything. When I instead tap "Discussions," it displays fine, but I tend not to use that view because it doesn't really fit with how my mind sorts the threads. Each view within "Discussions" is in reverse chronological order (whatever thread within a given view has the most recent reply goes to the top), regardless of the subforum in which the thread appears.

I use the Forums view and that's what is giving me the issue. I don't mind the Discussions ones but I'm used to the Forums one and the layout on the website. I'll give it a week or so to see if they fix it.
This may be what killed chat too.

It is. For whatever reason the PHP devs decided to change a bunch of stuff in PHP 8 that broke anything coded for PHP 7 and below.
Even my own code isn't immune. Apparently at a critical point in one of my scripts, PHP 7 passed "null" and PHP 8 passes an empty string (which is not equal to null, it's just a string with nothing in it). Since I had a conditional that tested for "null", that caused a fatal error. Changing the test to check for "false" rather than "null" (because an empty string is false but not null) fixed the error.
Hm. For some reason, I can post in some threads but not others on Tapatalk (like this one). On the website, everything's fine.

I noticed that too.
I have issue with Tapatalk on my phone lately as well. It often doesn't load the boards in the forum view unless I remove and re-add AARoads, But it will show recent and subscribed threads in that view. It started happening a couple months ago, so might be related to the upgrade mentioned above.
I've come to prefer Tapatalk on my phone since the board and buttons are a bit small and clunky on my (admittedly older model Android) phone and normal web browser. But I'll use a regular browser when accessing the forum from tablet and desktop.
