Good example, but I don't see the logic or the need for Toronto to be signed on the 401 via 403 signage. Most traffic going to the parts of Toronto served by 401 would stay on QEW to 427. Going with the downtown theme, Mississauga (downtown) or even Brampton would make more sense as a control city for 403.

I-90/Jane Addams Tollway EB and I-290 EB/IL 53 SB both are controlled for Chicago at the interchange in Schaumburg. The Tollway is specifically "Chicago - O'Hare" whereas 290/53 is "Chicago - West Suburbs" as ISTHA signs it

IDOT isn't as specific on the IL 53 SB approach to the interchange:

The issue at the NJ 38 & 70 split is to not sign Cherry Hill as a general area. It breaks down into areas as the shopping malls for Route 38 and the part of the township that has a regular business area on a street to be via Route 70.

I don't think it counts as the same via two different roads here per OP
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

Quoting this very old post because a different thread (the newest-route-number one I created a few days ago) reminded me of the 2019-present I-880 in this area (which replaced I-680 on this stretch, itself a replacement for I-80N) and..

Lo and behold, both 80 west and 880 west here are signed for Omaha!

Interestingly, 680/880 was signed for North Omaha until a year or so ago (maybe two). I definitely preferred that to the duplicate controls you posted. Iowa seems to be discontinuing the use of North Omaha on signage though there's still quite a bit out there - it's likely because North Omaha isn't a separate city, just an area of town.

One option would be to use Lincoln for 880 to suggest the route as a bypass, though it's technically a few minutes slower during normal traffic. Using the Mormon Bridge would be another control option (that's the bridge that it crosses the Missouri on). The use of "West Omaha" (or "Northwest Omaha") would suggest it as the best route to the suburbs that it serves.

Conversely, Nebraska doesn't use a control at all for 680.

This stands out because out here, while cities are still the usual preferred control destinations, districts are also used if the place is large enough (examples are "Hollywood" and "Echo Park" in LA, arguably "San Pedro" as well).  Omaha to me seems large enough to justify having "North Omaha" as a control, given how far away 880/680 each are from the downtown core.
