C'mon. You knew this was coming, given I posted the highway page update yesterday. Here's the May headlines that I was diligently going through to build the last part of the update. Some of this has already been discussed on the forums; some of it is new ... but as always, ready set discuss. BTW, Tom, nice job on the Rocky Canyon stuff.

Here's the link to the May headlines: https://cahighways.org/wordpress/?p=16113

Ready, set, discuss.

It feels strange to see CA 41 and the six mile Excelsior-Elkhorn stretch pop up so many times.  There has been a local push to get the highway widened to four lanes that recently resulted in it becoming a no passing zone.  The design is kind of a relic having been built as a two lane expressway during the early 1960s.  I don't quite see it as unsafe as everyone says (given I drive it daily) but it definitely is functionally obsolete.

I don't get why they don't just bypass Los Banos entirely with CA 152. The traffic light improvement is a start, but it seems like a 152 bypass and using CA 165 to go into town would be better for thru traffic (it certainly would be for me; my only need in town is to get a Rallyburger  ).

And widening the Marin Narrows can't come soon enough. It would probably get some traffic off CA 37 too.

It's been proposed for years, but not sure how far along that process to get it built is going:
