I find it interesting that for everyone who has listed a clinched state highway in Colorado, not one has been the same.

CA:  first SSR clinched:  134 on its original street alignment from Sherman Oaks east to the corner of Colorado Blvd. and N. Figueroa in Eagle Rock, partially through my home town of Glendale.
AZ:  AZ 71, on the return leg of my first major trip "back east" to St. Louis in 1960.
OR:  OR 234 from Gold Hill to OR 62, heading for Crater Lake on my first foray into OR, 1963.
WA:  WA 8 from US 12 to US 101, 1979.
NV:  NV 28 at Lake Tahoe, about 1957, as far as I can remember.
CO:  CO 41 coming in from UT, 1991.
UT: UT 15 (now UT 9), outbound leg, first major trip in 1960.
ID:  ID 22, westbound, 1989.
WY:  WY 22, westbound, 1989 (see above).
MT:  MT 72, southbound, 1989.
NM:  NM 7 (visiting Carlsbad Caverns), 1976
TX:  TX 14, NB train-chasing trip, 1984.
OK:  OK 79, return leg of 1960 multistate trip.
KS:  KS 34, en route to Dodge City, 1985.
NE:  none.  SD:  SD 240 WB, 1988 (and SD 244 one day later).
ND: none.  LA: LA 48, 1990.  AR:  AR 37 (all 1 mile of it), 1960.
MO:  MO 115/Natural Bridge Road (metro St. L, now relinquished), 1960.
IA:  IA 60, NB (1982).
MN: MN 194 (1993).
IL: none  WI: none

Will need to figure out other states east of there at another time.

sbeaver44

Early history so my memory is questionable:
PA: Probably 114
MD: 65
DE: 1
NY: 14
NJ: 72
VA: 292
WV: 230

For sure:
OH: 10C (unsigned).   Somehow despite ample time in Ohio I don't think I've clinched a single signed SR
KY: 471
IN: 930
NM: 597
AZ: 64
IA: 27
MO: 27
ND: 91
OR: 35
WA: 35 (unsigned), 526 (signed)
ID: 53
MT: 28
MN: 77
WI: 30
TN: 383 (unsigned for US 58), no signed
DC: 295
CT: 11
RI: 146
MA: 295 (unsigned), no signed
UT: 275
IL: 6
WY: 110

Somewhat sure this would be the first:
CA: 163

Been to, never clinched a SR:
South Dakota, North Carolina, South Carolina, Nevada (unless a retroactive SR 172 counts), New Hampshire, Vermont, Nebraska, Colorado, Michigan, Florida,

Skye

Ohio: not sure, likely either 562 or 264
Kentucky: best guess either 212 (CVG Airport) or 1017 (before it was rerouted onto Aero Pkwy), or the since decommissioned 3157.
TN 158 (one of only two I've clinched in the state)
NC 179 (also one of only two I've clinched)
SC 22 (Conway to Myrtle Beach)
FL 878 (Toll Expwy near Miami) or 867 (Ft. Myers)
IN, IL, NY, NJ, AZ-driven on state routes, never clinched any

KY 212 goes 0.2 miles north past the I-275 ramps and ends at KY 20, so unless you actually been all the way up to KY 20, if you came out of CVG and only have exited onto I-275, it's not a clinch. Just noting it here as I almost mentioned KY 212 onto my list upthread until I realized that.

This may be the case for a lot of people along the I-81 corridor since it is a US 11 connector with a Sheetz on it.

I recall needing to refill the rental car, which meant trekking out to KY 20 out of more than curiosity...

I have done the entire KY 212 between the airport and KY 20. I still think it's the first I fully clinched in KY.

I for one purposely left off state routes that overlapped with interstates.

US 101 is THE backbone of the Pacific coast from Bandon OR to Willits CA.  Industry, tourism and local traffic would be gone or severely crippled without it being in functioning condition in BOTH states.

VA 292 does not overlap with I-81 or US 11.  It is just a short connector between the two routes.

Gauging by my clinched highways in the "Highways You Have Clinched" thread, it looks like I've only clinched state highways in 2 states, unless I'm missing something (which I probably am)

The second VA 253 might be the first primary route I clinched in Virginia. It was downgraded to Prince William County SR 906 in 1998, but it was still primary while I was growing up.

The first Virginia primary route I clinched while actually driving it was probably VA 197.

This past Saturday I clinched OH 609, which was the first state route in OH I have clinched, so I have been thinking what is the first state route you have clinched in each state.

VA will be tough because I was born there, and lack of memory as an infant plays a part in this.  This is as correct as I think that I can come up with.

FL: FL 869 (2008)
GA:  GA 331 (2002)
SC:  SC 65 (mid 2000s sometime, this is somewhat controversial based on uncertainty with 27th St, taking that away would make it SC 700, which I clinched in 2012)
NC:  NC 168 (whenever I went to Nags Head the first time)
VA:  VA 36 or VA 156 Business (Hopewell) (If counting business routes, I believe it is the latter.  If not, I believe it is the former.  It could also be VA 144, but the portion north of VA 10 makes that unlikely IMO).
WV:  WV 112 (2014)
KY:   KY 2167 (2013) (same day as KY 3226, the other clinched KY route)
OH:  OH 609 (last Saturday)
PA:   PA 581 (2015)
DC:  DC 295  :-D  (well it still is not a state at the moment anyway, clinched in 2009)
MD:  MD 234 (2014)
DE:  DE 141 (2016)
NJ:  NJ 208 (2009, thanks to a church van randomly going this way)
NY:  NY 440 (2018)

I have not clinched any state routes in any other state as of this post.

Adding the following:
IN:  IN 8 (Eastern Segment)
MI:  M-239
IL:  IL 5
IA:  IA 130
I am now a PennDOT employee.  My opinions/views do not necessarily reflect the opinions/views of PennDOT.

MI - I suspect 39 or 85. Also clinched 1, 5, 8, 10, 14, 17, 103, 125, 153, Former 205, 217. May be others
OH - 420. Also clinched 191, 246, 412, 660 and 719
CO - 5. Also clinched 30, 44, 53, 74, 224, 265, 470
CA -51(unsigned). Also 65, 149

Nothing impressive. All are short routes
