Temp AR 7

he official Arkansas highway maps from 1955-1958 show a Temp AR 7 running along AR 60 and AR 28 between Fourche Junction and Ola through Plainview. Why was the highway over the mountain closed?  Rock slide?  Road construction?

Looks like an all-paved alternate to the gravel on 7. 1955 is the first year 7 was completely paved south of Fourche Junction.

Not in 1955 or 1956. After that, they may have forgotten to remove the shield from the map.

In PERRY and YELL, COUNTIES, on Highways 60 and 28 from Fourche Junction to intersection with Highways 10 and 7 near Ola, a distance of approximately 13.7 miles, the Director is authorized to place additional markers for temporary route of Highway 7 in order to serve present traffic on Highway 7 over paved road sections.
