I believe the first I-shields appeared on the Kansas Turnpike in 1956.  I-70.

dunno about the first US shield to be put up in the field, but the demonstration model at AASHO's meetings in 1926 was a Maine US 56.

Direct your complaints about me to Archer City, FL. Direct anything else about me to my PM-box. Direct things NOT about me to the Hypnotuse. Or just send anything to Alanlans, that's alright too.
