Agenda items for next week's meeting expand the scope of planned interchange work. Both are 5-level interchanges.

Hardy Toll Road at Beltway 8.
This intersection currently has one direct connector and there were plans to add three more to complete the west side of the interchange. New plans call for building the east side ramps, so all 8 connections will be built. This project was the topic of a September meeting, which I was not aware of. The timing of the four ramps on the east side is unclear. The cost estimate is raised from $140 million to $310 million.

QuoteRequest for approval of a Change Investment Memo for the Interchange
between Hardy Toll Road and Sam Houston Parkway (North) project for an
additional $170,000,000 for a total of $310,000,000.

A second item expands the scope of work of the interchange at SH 225 and Sam Houston Parkway east, which is just south of the new bridge, to include all 8 connector. Originally this project included 5 connectors, and was recently downsized to 4 connectors. But it appears that the downsizing may be part of the new project plan.

QuoteRequest for approval to execute a First Amendment with Dannenbaum
Engineering Corporation to amend the Scope of Services and increase
compensation and payment, and add historically underutilized business
requirements for Program Management for the full interchange, eight
Director Connectors at East Sam Houston Tollway and SH 225, in support of
the Ship Channel Bridge Program in the amount of $580,000 (Precinct 2).
MWDBE Contracted Goal: 20%.

This document has info on the recent downsizing from 5 to 4 connectors. For maximum traffic (and revenue) on the new bridge, it makes sense to build all the connecors.
