"Missing" roadgeeks - where are they?
« on: April 05, 2014, 01:09:05 AM »

This is a thread dedicated to the roadgeeks who, for whatever reason, have fallen off the face of the earth. Sometimes life gets in the way, sometimes you drift away from the hobby, and sometimes... well, you just disappear and nobody knows where you went.

6 of the top 100 posters on AARoads haven't signed in once in 2014:
  • kphoger
  • mightyace
  • Hellfighter - I think this is Ryan Pooya? He attended a couple Michigan meets in 2009 and 2010, and then suddenly, nothing. I found his Facebook and he's alive and well, now in California.
  • Bryant5493 - "Be well, Bryant." None of his sites have been updated in over a year.
  • Michael in Philly
  • 3467

If you know where any of these folks are, speak up.
If you're wondering about anyone else, go ahead and ask.

He's still around, just not on this forum.  I believe he got tired of the bullshit politics and overmoderation.

There are a number of old MTR regulars from back in the day that seem to be MIA.

Bruce Harper and Rush Wickes came to mind since I passed through Blacksburg, Va. a couple of weeks ago.

From what I can tell, blawp chased him away from the forums by making fun of his sign-off.

Rush is still semi-active on Facebook. Lives in Las Vegas now.

I remember him being fairly active in the early to mid-noughties.  This is probably his obituary:

The designated memorial suggests diabetes was the cause of death.

Is JT Legg or even Chris Partricia ( I think that is his name) as well a person named Costas (who NE 2 used to use his photos when he had is SPUI site) and even Justin Cozart.  All in the community outside this forum, yet I do not recognize their M O here, so are they active members on this at all?

What about Hotrodhotananny?  He has been non active for years it seems where is he?

I know that we have some users on here like people mention the name blawp who I do not know as he was before my time here, but heard he would offend some people.  Then we have our usual trolls on here (thankful one is suspended for a month, I think we all know who he is with his weird sense of humor and bi polar reactions of his), then one who is permanently banned from here for calling the owner of this site something terrible who acted just like the previous (but never attacking him though, but trying to get me banned for a Bud Schuster joke I told), and we have a few others here that get mad over spilled milk that I know personally that caused one particular well known not to be here because of the nonsense.  Are some of these one time popular users been driven out by the obnoxious ones here too?

What really is interesting is that if we behave the way we do here with non road geeks about certain topics we would be made of mockery of, as most road subjects in everyday talk is considered funny farm material. I can testify that I have been looked down on in places I have been just because I knew the terminus of one interstate in which I mentioned briefly in a conversation.  I am sure everyone here does not even bring up roads with non road geeks, for fear of being called a nut yet some here will act like the idiot that get them name called outside of here, with no shame or humility of any sort!

No worries, I got made fun of when I said to my friends I was doing 'something'. They sarcastically replied, "are you making a new road? Or are you making another sign?". Fuck them. I told them my hobby was odd, and if they want to continue to make fun of me for it they are going to find they aren't going to be talking to me in the future. Yet all they do is browse Reddit all day. Gee, that's a great hobby! I CAN LOOK AT CATZ ALL DAY!!11!1 But then again, I have odd interests according to some people in my friends group, so what do I know? One thing's for sure: I love these forums and I won't stop this hobby of mine unless something extremely major happens in my life. Even then? I hope to be a long time member of these forums.

Sandor was at the Ashland meet last year, and someone told me he was also at the JMoses' Cincinnati meet. He also runs and regularly posts in the Great Lakes Roads Facebook group, so he's certainly around.

Yet all they do is browse Reddit all day.

Some of us can do both!  :sombrero:

Was he the one that considered all the US routes to be Federal Routes and used it in his user name?  It was Federalroute71 or something, but I thought he got discovered in a Texas road thread and one of the moderators canned him after that one post.  Therefore he was not around for long or like you said I missed something.  I know that one user on here told me that he made himself known bad on MTR and did not want him at all no matter how nice he could be here.

Yes, that was his second username on here. His third time, he was "N8 here!" and was quickly banned after I noticed who he was almost immediately. I wasn't on MTR, so I don't know if he was there or not.

Wait, are you asking whether blawp is Calrog? That's more or less the question I'm seeing. (I don't know the answer, because I wasn't active here in 2012.)

Interstateng was not one his aliases as that user was a problem, especially for me? He never got mad at even that 13 year old kid that use to troll here with all his wacky posts, and even NE2 with his.....well you know, but he was obsessed with me in some of my posts and got into arguments with other users and moderators because I used to bring up old posts and comment on things that I should have not which some of the other veterans on here have done many times that he never said a thing about.

Someone is suspended for a month? That's news to me.

There are a lot of names from MTR, past and present, that could be asked about from time to time. A name will occasionally float across my mind but then I'll forget.

I know Jason Pawlowski (I think I spelled that right) has tried to join numerous times but has never been successful. To me, he's certainly less offensive than a few I could name but won't.

I must not have been active in a lot of the regional boards where blawp was, because I never did see too much of his stuff.
