Welcome from the Piedmont!
« on: October 27, 2018, 10:47:55 AM »

Greetings, fellow roadgeeks!

I am from the Piedmont region of North Carolina, where they have a track record of targeting US Highway routes for Interstate designations (see I-42 for US 70 and I-87 for US 64 from Raleigh to Zebulon), and where Interstate 85 is currently being widened from Concord to China Grove! I have watched videos that have shown progress on the construction of, specifically the Asheboro Bypass, detailing a specific area where work is being done, for example: at NC-49, the bypass bridges are done, and what is currently being done, is the paving on the on-and-off ramps, and on the freeway. I have also taken photos of the Interstate 85 construction zone between Kannapolis and China Grove, with the section of 85 from Moose Road to the 29-601 connector to be a concrete freeway. Overall, I have had experience with highways and freeways in the whole entire state, and recently, in March I've been to Morganton for the very first time in my life!

Well, that was my story as a Carolinian roadgeek from the Piedmont, hope you stop by and send some greetings! :))

Welcome from Massachusetts!

Clinched, minus I-93 (I'm missing a few miles and my file is incorrect)

Traveled, plus US 13, 44, and 50, and several state routes

I will be in Burlington VT for the eclipse.

Welcome from Florida! I’ve only driven on I-95 through NC, stopping overnight at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Fayetteville off of Cedar Creek Road (NC 53-NC 210) on Judson Church Road (other overnight suggestions for our drive through NC included Rocky Mount, Greenville, Elizabeth City, and Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill).

Welcome from Michigan! I've only been to the western half of NC, but hope to visit the eastern half someday!

Welcome from Iowa! I've spent a couple summers in Greensboro, so I've gotten to know a little about your neck of the woods.

A warm welcome from the nearby state of Georgia!

I've been to North Carolina two different times, once on a trip to Asheville (April 2010 (?)), and once on a trip to Winston-Salem (June 2013). I absolutely loved both trips, and I found North Carolina to be a very beautiful and interesting state. I hope to go on travels there again in the future, including to places I have not yet been, such as Charlotte, the Outer Banks, and more. It has been interesting for me to watch the development of new Interstate designations in North Carolina, even if some of them are a little more bizarre.

I am looking forward to seeing your posts on the forum, and I will see you around.

Welcome from the eastern half of NC.
Thank you for the warm welcome! How are things going for I-42, I-87, and I-795?

Welcome from Statesville.
Once again, thank you for the warm welcome!

Welcome from Cary, by way of Lenoir.  Western NC roads are more fun, but Eastern NC BBQ is the best.
