Greetings from MN
« on: August 01, 2020, 09:39:44 PM »

Hi all,

I'm very happy to have found this forum and look forward to reading a lot of the threads.

I'm a huge road trip fan, and prefer the interstates to the state highways and local roads.    I used to take more road trips when I was younger living in NJ than since I've been in MN (since 2008).   However, when time allows I'll still take them as I love them!

I've clinched 23 interstates out of the 71 possible routes (not counting 3di in this number, nor AK, HI and PR) that I can clinch, with I-70 and I-94 being the longest two routes that I've clinched.

Thanks to those who have put the work in to make this forum possible!   I'm excited to be here!

Clinched, minus I-93 (I'm missing a few miles and my file is incorrect)

Traveled, plus US 13, 44, and 50, and several state routes

I will be in Burlington VT for the eclipse.

Impressive. I would recommend you log those stats at the Travel Mapping site, developed by some members of this forum.

I've stumbled across that site before and never followed through out of a) laziness or b) confusion    Perhaps I'll have to give it a second look.   For now I have all of my records in an excel file.

Regarding (b), you're more than welcome to ask/contact the Travel Mapping collaborators (of which I am one) if you have any questions.

As a native Minnesotan, glad to see more people from/living in that state populating the forum.

fyi I am relatively new and just started posting updates of my travels the Travel Mapping site.  Lots of useful highway information, and cool metrics of one's travels. Definitely worth another look.

Seconded, it’s more or less a replacement for a historic government-funded highway.

Hi Froggie,
Based on your prodding and others as well, I looked at travel mapping again.   I put together a sample file for just a couple of interstates.   If it's OK with you, I'll reach out via private message to you

Thanks
Josh

Howdy from Georgia!

I have been to neither Minnesota nor New Jersey, but I definitely hope to visit both states sometime in the future.

I also have yet to compile my travel mapping data - aside from having a loose list of routes I have clinched thus far (not on the site) - so when I get the time I should definitely try working on that.
