Reimagining Urban Highways - The Academy of Natural Sciences, Center for Environmental Policy (Drexel Univ.)
1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM

Word of warning - the panel is going to be bashing urban interstates, so if you object, come prepare to question them.
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

So "reimagining" is the PC term for "tear it down" now?  :-D

I would actually be interested in going...if only I wasn't holed up in upstate NY.

Moreso another term for repurposing the land/right-of-way.

Some of those other city testimonials actually involve either highways that were RELOCATED (example: I-195 in Providence) and/or areas where highways were orginally proposed but never built.

"Architectural Critic" (in the loosest sense) Inga Saffron mentions some of these individuals in her article in last Friday's Philadelphia Inquirer.

I started a thread in the Northeast Section focusing on her quest to remove a piece of I-95 between Penns Landing (Exit 20) and South Street.

I'm debating whether or not I want to attend this given the subject matter and my blood pressure.

I posted similar in the Regional thread, but in case anyone missed it; a synopsis of the meeting can be found in the below-link:
