Went up to Brockton, MA for Turkey Day. Routing was MA 132-US 6-MA 3-MA 228-MA 123

US 6 (Mid Cape Hwy): Man do they need to replace the BGS along the way. At night the guide signs are all messed up, as the reflectant is coming off, so the shields look all black and messed up at night in the headlight glare. Luckily I know the exits, but some tourist might not. During the day the signs look normal. It's been like that for years.

MA 3 (Pilgrim's Hwy): They had the signs that show distance/time but they also had portable signs showing miles/time.

MA 228: Does this route end at 3 or does it continue to 123?

MA 123: This route takes a crazy routing through Rockland, MA. Seems to zig zag through the town.

The contract to replace the signage along US 6 is still scheduled to start next spring, it couldn't be soon enough.

MA 228 officially ends at MA 3 as this was where MA 128 left 3 when the Pilgrims Highway was extended to Rockland, then beyond in the early 1960's. They simply changed the number for this part of the route when 128 was decommissioned past Braintree. I always thought it should extend south along Hingham Street to MA 123. Signage at the Hingham Street/123 intersection indicates to take a turn there to get to 3, why not a MA 228 North to MA 3 routing? Also, many of the hotels along Hingham Street south of Route 3 advertise that they are on MA 228 anyway. Besides, it was originally a state route. The first MA 18 was routed along Hingham Street to the current Route 228, ending at MA 3A from 1928-1930. I also think 228 should be extended further northward in Hull, but that's a story for another day.

If they extend MA 228 south, that invalidates my clinch. (I would still like to see it extended, though.)
