I was certain for a moment that you'd somehow stolen one of my pictures, which heretofore had not been on the Internet:

But it's quickly obvious that mine has less snow in it

Some catch-ups, from a dive into my film print shoeboxes for pix from a short 2002 visit to Puerto Rico. Just three in this post, two more to follow in a separate post.

PR 137, somewhere near Vega Baja (shot on the move, so of course another car got in the way):

PR 194, somewhere near Fajardo:

Maryland Route 222 near Conowingo, Maryland, just off the U.S. Route 1 Conowingo Dam. MD-222 used to be a continuation of U.S. 222 between Conowingo and Perryville via Port Deposit until 1995.
From the land of red, white, yellow and black.

Here's my other two tropical catch-ups.

And here's the END IA-224 sign on the opposite side of the interchange–I'll add that the sign in your picture has since been replaced with a wide shield as well. March 4, 2017.

Also, am I the only one irritated by the fact that wide shields were used but still with Series C? I thought the whole point of using 30x24" shields was to be able to fit three Series D numerals.

If IowaDOT could figure out the kerning necessary between a 2 and a 4 (i.e. little to no spacing whatsoever), I'm sure they could have used Series D.  Look at the 2 and the 4--the spacing between is far too great.

I'm wondering if it's just IowaDOT playing it conservatively so that custom kerning and other font fiddling isn't ever necessary. So much so that they even use Series C on digit combinations that would very clearly fit Series D, c.f. this Iowa 117 sign:

Also, I totally forgot to include this with my first post: a Minnesota 224 shield from my sign collection. This route connected the town of Ogema on US-59 to the unincorporated community/CDP of White Earth four miles to the east. The route was turned back to Becker County in 2005, and is now CR-34.
