Some of the metal ones are inside roundabouts even
(shhh.  don't tell anyone.)

Everyone knows metal electric poles in roundabouts induce a magnetic field due to the rotation of vehicles, which will attract the metal frames of cars and cause even more crashes. It's simple science, really.

And if you add a second lane to the roundabout, it's like adding current to the winding of an electromagnet. It makes them dangerously attractive!

You know, what we're seeing here actually causes the roundabout to act like a simple motor that makes things spin, interacting with the metal of the cars and all. Like one of those homopolar motors you might've done for a science experiment as a kid. Without it, the roundabout wouldn't work at all, cars would just drive straight through, right over the island and everything - these are in all roundabouts, the apparatus is just visible above ground for this one.

Mitchell Hammock Rd in Oviedo has power lines inthe center:

I believe one side of the road was built with powerlines on the side, and when expansion was needed, ROW was on the other side of the power lines, and they were never relocated.

I don't think I see US-30 (Lincoln Highway) in Forest Hills mentioned. Duquesne Light has a line running down the median for about 2.2 miles or so, shortly after it splits from the Parkway East heading east.

I don't have opinions anymore. All I know is that no one is better than anyone else, and everyone is the best at everything

Also, there is a natural spring / well in the middle of the road south of Norwalk, Ohio along Peru Hollow Road (Old State Route 61):

This only kind of counts, since it's not visible aboveground, but the reason that much of Beacon Ave S in Seattle has such a wide median is that the Cedar River Pipeline -- several huge water mains that supply about half of Seattle's water -- are buried under it.

Further up the line, a road is built right on the right-of-way, but it still has to split past some sort of support building.  Google Street View

The Cimarron County, OK courthouse is located in the center island of a roundabout carrying US 56, US 64, US 385, US 412, and SH 3, plus the terminus of SH 325. The roundabout also carried US 287 before that was moved to a bypass northeast of town to elimitante truck trarffic.

Near Laurel, MD, there are two lattice-style transmission towers with wide bases in a median on I-95.  This is actually a median between the NB lanes and a relatively new C/D road, built primarily for the ICC/MD-200 project and a new interchange (also serves the MD-198 exit from beforehand).  The width of the median can vary from a mere Jersey barrier to a dozen or so yards.  Some of the wider sections, including this one, are at different elevations.

When the ICC-construction website was online, if it isn't still, there was a design document somewhere that described how these towers were going to be "landlocked" with regard to the power company having access to them.  I was surprised they kept them right where they were, since when the new freeway section of US-29 was built through Burtonsville 10+ years ago, two new towers were built to keep the wires higher up.  Curiously, the new structures are monopoles while most if not all the others on that line are lattice.  For what it's worth, when these same lines cross over US-50, several of them are painted white and red due to their proximity to Freeway Airport.  They also have red navigation warning lights up top.

Here, in QC, along the A-640 between Mascouche and Terrebonne, there's a mass transit RR, and even a train station, between the two carriageways.

Three Rivers, MI has a KFC (an older one with a buffet) between a slip road from NB US-131 to EB M-60 and M-60 proper on the east side of US-131. Current construction plans call for the elimination of the slip road: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.9424067,-85.6510307,396m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

Weber's Inn and Restaurant in Ann Arbor, MI is located within the median of Jackson Ave (old US-12/current BL I-94): https://www.google.com/maps/@42.2845549,-83.7928284,513m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

Franklin Street in Crawfordsville, Indiana has a railroad track running between its two halves for five blocks.  Google Maps mistakenly calls it Franklin St S and calls an alley half a block north Franklin St N.  Few people use Franklin Street because it has a stop sign at every street that crosses it while none of the cross streets do-- one of which is US 231.

Here, in the "island" between the QC-138 WB, the ramp to QC-343 NB, and the QC-343 itself, bears a Tim Horton's, a Shell gas station and an accomodation store.

Thought of another one in Las Vegas:

*Huntridge Circle Park is a city park located in the median of Maryland Parkway, complete with small parking lots on either side and traffic signals for pedestrian crossing. This is located in an old residential neighborhood called Huntridge, and I think existed prior to Maryland Parkway becoming such a major thoroughfare.

In Rapid City, SD, West Chicago Street has power lines above short trees in the median between 32nd and 44th Streets. They have to trim the trees at least once a year to keep them from growing too tall and hitting the power lines.
