I was a huge fan of Truth Or Consequences.  Price Is Right is disappointing by comparison.  After Match Game, I would often just watch the instructional programs on PBS because there's nothing better on daytime television.  (What?  Go outside and play?)

Stu Shostack is a big fan of Bob Barker.  His latest show was recorded last weekend, posted on Wednesday, and I didn't get a chance to watch it until Sunday.  I wondered what the chances were that he would mention Mr. Barker, and he did, mentioning that Bob is 99 and Stu hoped he would make it to 100.   :-(

I've been watching Price Is Right since my earliest memory; in fact I was told it was my first TV show I've ever watched.  I never thought I'd ever see the day without Bob Barker.  He put the show in mainstream culture; it is the only morning game show that still remaining in the morning live TV today.  I'll never forget the morning game show lineup back in the day when I was growing up; it made every morning worth waking up.

Having said that, I firmly believe the show has been in even greater hands since Drew Carey took over; I am probably in the minority opinion when I say I like Drew even better.
We're so far south that we're not even considered "The South"

For those interested, CBS will air a Bob Barker tribute show this Thursday night at 8:00 EDT.
"You know, you never have a guaranteed spot until you have a spot guaranteed."
—Olaf Kolzig, as quoted in the Washington Times on March 28, 2003,
commenting on the Capitals clinching a playoff spot.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"
—Kolzig, to the same reporter a few seconds later.

4 months away from making it to 100.

He wins the prize for closest to 100 without going over.

Uh.... Betty White.... Born: January 17, 1922, Died: December 31, 2021
Bob Barker... Born: December 12, 1923, Died: August 26, 2023

Although I do understand where the origin of the joke came from.... this ain't Match Game.
I'm an Engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like "What is beauty?", because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems and call them "paychecks".

A pleasant memory of Bob Barker interacting with a contestant and a malfunctioning pricing game board.

On the other side of the "100" line, I remember that Eubie Blake was about 5 days past his 100th birthday when he died in 1983.

All I'll say about Barker is that I much preferred Truth or Consequences.

Another one when Adam Sandler when on the stage of the Price is Right, still Bob Barker was very sport to do a cameo on Happy Gilmore as well as doing a re-match. ;)
