Last I checked though, mapcat still had the throne on TravelMapping. :D

Oscar is beating mapcat in "Preview+Active" at the moment. (https://travelmapping.net/stat.php?u=null&units=miles)

Emphasis on "at the moment".

At one point last year, just after one of my systems was promoted from "preview" to "active", I was very close to mapcat's active-system mileage. Since then, he has added mileage much faster than I have. At that pace, he might soon overtake me in Preview+Active.

Other users have me killed in European systems and others outside the U.S. and Canada. Travel Mapping provides ample opportunities for competitive people to claim the top spot on something.

Indeed. I was pretty pleased to see that, having gotten my file up-to-date, I am in 2nd place in Oklahoma. There's only one guy ahead of me...and he just moved back to Oklahoma, so I am probably never gonna catch up. :P

By the way, Oscar, I just looked at your Oklahoma travels because I was curious where you stood on them, and I think you may have inadvertently not given yourself credit for the tolled portion of the Chickasaw Turnpike.

My lowest route number I haven't been on is 170 followed by 179, 194, 196, and 199.

Unfortunately my quest to be the first to 100% MN was dashed by some dude who I don't think is a member of this board. I'm still working on it, but at a slower pace than maybe I would have before. Dude kind of came out of nowhere too and suddenly shot up the leaderboard until I saw all he had left was Rock County's mileage, which he quickly also completed.

I'm assuming I'll be the first to 100% in Colorado, although Corco, who posts here but doesn't log his miles on Travel Mapping to my knowledge, has it in his sights too.

Well, I do have the top spot for interstates in MD, DE, DC, VA, WV ... yeah in about a 100-way tie for first place   :bigass:

My best chance might be either DC, Maryland, or Delaware ... I'm sure I wouldn't be the first to the top.

As with mob-rule, I wonder if all who are using Travel Mapping are using it to track their own travels specifically.  That can cause some quirks in the data if not all are in on the "competition."

And, as has been pointed out by county clinchers and others many times, if someone lies about their travels, that's more on them than anyone.

If I participated in Travel Mapping, I have no doubt I'd have first place in West Virginia (having clinched the entire primary system, including various unsigned ALT routes) and in Kentucky as well.

I remember a long time ago I showed mob-rule to some Internet friend who wasn't a roadgeek. They thought it was pretty cool and started an account there and showed it to me. To my chagrin they had a color for "Places I want to go some day" or something like that. I pointed out that a lot of the extra features of the site assumed that every marked county was actually visited, so it made the data inaccurate whenever they used it that way. They basically said they didn't care and as far as I know never changed it.

That, and there are a lot of people on mob-rule with joint husband-and-wife accounts, multiple accounts for specific purposes (like Oscar's "second round" map), people using it as a general county-map-generating service for purposes not tied to their own travel, and so on, that means mob-rule data needs to be taken with a grain of kosher salt (a grain of table salt is small enough it just won't do).

I would expect Travel Mapping to be somewhat more accurate because building a .list file is enough of a pain in the butt that most people won't bother going through the trouble in order to use it as a general mapping service, or to keep track of anything but actual highway travels.

I saw Travel Mapping as a little tedious at first, adding up route segments for about an hour a day for roughly six months. If you log these routes on a map or keep good written/photographic records, it's a little easier. Of course, your time spent might vary on how much lifetime mileage you've accumulated (I think I had about 65-70k miles, to put the time into perspective). It is a little easier now that multi-state Interstate and US Routes can be included in one go, as well as easier to cut-and-paste routes.

After that, it takes me only 5-10 minutes after taking a trip. Once in a while, there's edits which break up, add, or dissolve routes, but everything's logged somewhere as a warning. If starting out, I would highly recommend just submitting a few routes to make you understand how it's done, otherwise you wind up with a lot of re-editing. Then just climb the ranks or marvel at your maps.

I just got home from a trip, during which I drove on PA-168, VA-174, OH-187, and VA-195.  I think that leaves 175 as the only remaining number below 200 that I haven't driven on.

See here (https://travelmapping.net/participate.php?units=miles&u=null&).  The allowable new formats (copy-paste and multi-region option) are marked with "NEW!" highlights.  Since there is no requirement to use the multi-region option, these changes do not directly affect your existing list file.

Picked up PA 456 and PA 477, so 479 is now my lowest un-driven route number.

US 89

I drove part of AL 46 today. The only 47 I've been on is NM 47, but the part I was on is no longer NM 47 (though it was at the time).

Not sure if that still counts as a valid 47 travel. If it does (and in my opinion it should), my lowest untraveled number is now 57.

Rothman

Updated.  Operation: Get Oscar seems to be going well.

Also updated US 89's to 57, since he wants to count nonexistent routes. :D

So today I went out and drove on County Road 2 (Brazoria) out in Danciger, TX. That brings my lowest traveled number up to 9. I think counting county routes for this is acceptable as long as the number is signed (in this case, it was, and I took a picture if you need verification that it is). But it appears CR 9 is not signed, so I probably might be stuck on 9 for a while.

I might have a chance to nab OK-9 when I'm going to do a college visit in Tulsa sometime this summer, but that's the only one that looks even feasible to travel to for right now.

Summary so far up to 50:
1: LA, TN, TX NASA   2: CR (Brazoria, TX)   3: TX   4: IH   5: IH   6: TX   7: AR   8: IH, TX Beltway   9: none   10: IH
11: AR   12: IH   13: AR   14: none   15: TN   16: none   17: none   18: none   19: LA   20: IH
21: TX   22: none   23: none   24: none   25: none   26: none   27: none   28: none   29: none   30: IH
31: none   32: none   33: none   34: none   35: IH, TX, TX BUS  36: TX   37: IH   38: none   39: none   40: IH

Hot Rod Hootenanny

Got bored earlier this afternoon, so I drove to Findlay and clinched OH 186.
My lowest number is now 192.
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

Bickendan

I need to get out to John Day to snag 48. I just never have the energy to do so.

Rothman

Actually had Hot Rod at 184 and he said he clinched 186 and is now 192 (Protip: Disney World).  But, I'm no one to argue.

Bickendan's moanings duly ignored. :D
