Lowest-numbered route you haven't been on

32, of all numbers, would be my lowest. I guess I kept unintentionally dodging it during my travels.

Just to name a few routes I've used (one example for each number)... US-1, FL-2, FL-3, I-4, I-5, US-6, AL-7, Autobahn 8, FL-9, I-10, US-11, I-12, FL-13, I-14, I-15, I-16, US-17, MD-18, US-19, I-20, FL-21, FL-22, FL-23, I-24, FL-25, I-26, US-27, MA-28, US-29, FL-30, and US-31. Some of these are unsigned.

Florida has a quite a few missing numbers up to 39; some are hidden and others seemed to have been "reserved" or forgotten.

If this post began in say, 2011; I would probably be stuck in the range of 28-38.

Forgot to mention this since it happened during the forum update, but I drove on a 58 this last Saturday, which puts me up to 68. Considering that I was stuck at 2 just 3 years ago, I feel like I've made some good progress since then. Only 7 more numbers until I reach 100 (68, 73, 78, 81, 88, 89, 93).

Once I get that, next is 36 (I have segments of CT 32 and MA 35 too short for Travel Mapping), but it's 25 for now. Maybe I'll take a trip to Portland ME. After 36, each number I get will only advance me by a few rather than a big jump.

Looking ahead:  There is a MD 344 not too far away; it's just out of the way in the middle of nowhere.  I'll just have to bite my lip and do it sometime.

345 may be a challenge - nearest ones are near Reading PA and near the Outer Banks NC.

Observation:  It's gonna start getting tough soon the higher we go.  For example, the nearest 357 is over 300 miles from me (near Oneonta NY).  Maybe I can plan a vacation to the Baseball HOF and grab it on the way.

Mapmikey, thanks for the suggestion!  I had overlooked it since it was not included in the Travel Mapping database - presumably being unsigned (near as I can tell from GMSV).  Is it a primary or secondary state highway?

I guess if I were thinking far enough ahead at the time, I could have grabbed it last December while I was in Petersburg getting VA 319 ...

I got a picture of VA-345 in October 2023 during my visit to the Richard Bland College for an event.

For my lowest number (39), I may plan a trip using I-64 west from I-81 and make a stop at the Lexington Waffle House, giving me the easternmost ~175 feet of VA-39.

I am trying to figure out clinching the rest of VA 39, which would give me all Travel Mapping highway mileage in VA north of I-64.

After further research I've determined I've been on a section of D27 that overlaps former N643 (now D943) near Navarrenx in Southwestern France. Thus, even though only the former national route is signed on that section (exception to the usual lower number rule) I'm going to count that and move up to... 29. I'm counting walking along C-28 in Vielha as being on a route .
