I was trying to figure out the exact thing.  Either he is the owner of the photo and Flickr account, or he lives there, or he's been able to find the photo's geotagged information (I wasn't able to find out anything on the Flickr page).

Hehe–I was actually surprised myself at being able to find it! Guessing the location of photos is a game I like to play, so I just thought, as a lark, hey–I'll try to find this one!

Basically, I went off the user's name (Ruddy Ct Films) and the Ruddy Ct street sign he had posted. Google Maps only brought up a handful of Ruddy Cts in the U.S. None of them matched the sign style according to current Street View, but it is an old photo. The user's photo of a railroad led me to think it was in the commuter rail areas of the northeast, so I just dropped Pegman at the New Jersey location and started looking around the yellow-lined road that intersects Ruddy Ct. Turns out that brick building in the background is essentially right there, as is the No Parking or Standing sign–and just down the block is a commuter railroad line. (Looks like that photo was taken–dangerously–from about this angle.)

Oh, and the warning sign whose back is visible in the utility work photo is also seen in the "fellow citizen" photo. :-)

Aw, shucks! *bow*

Very nice job by MapMikey–I wonder if I would have ever figured that one out on my own. The interchange definitely looked vaguely familiar, but I was really thinking of downtown LA to start. Would've taken me a while to hit on Hartford!

I also recall a similar challenge with an old B/W photo, I think of a bridge, in the Delaware Valley, perhaps? Anybody else recall something like that?

Heh, I was wondering if we'd get any crossovers...I lurk but if I fell into that rabbit hole I'd probably never get out.

Solving the Ruddy Ct photo is Mapmikey-level skills...

Interestingly, if you type Ruddy Ct vs. Ruddy Court at Google Maps you get a slightly different suggested locations list.  Ruddy Court did not bring up the NJ location...

The Radiohead cover was not my hardest find IMO (and as I have stated I'm sure a number of others on the forum would've gotten it).  This was:  https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=21533.msg2275706#msg2275706

If there are a lot of streets/places with the same name, then it will bring up the five closest to wherever you are looking at Google Maps.

I tried it, but was poking around Minnesota at the time so it didn't come up. Tried again last night while situated around West Virginia, and then it showed up. I've had that phenomenon come up before...after all, it wouldn't be useful to show you a locale in your hometown if you're travelling somewhere else.
