This past month I drove Auberry Road from CA 168 in Pineridge westward back to CA 168 in Prather.  Auberry Road between Pineridge and Prather loses approximately 3,000 feet in elevation in 16 miles with numerous vista-like switchbacks being a common feature.  Auberry Road is surprisingly old and dates back to the era of logging stages at Shaver (modern Shaver Lake).  From Auberry Road much of the San Joaquin River Canyon can be seen along with San Joaquin Valley.  Auberry Road over it's entire course carries the Fresno County Wildflower Trail which is a touring route similar to the Blossom Trail and Orange Blossom Trail.  Notably Auberry Road also features the community of Auberry which was a siding on the San Joaquin & Eastern Railroad  The San Joaquin & Eastern Railroad was built in 1912 to facilitate the Big Creek Project building the dams that form Huntington Lake and was one the curviest rail lines to ever exist in the United States.

I made an update to the Auberry Road article this weekend.  Said article now contains the segment of Auberry Road west of CA 168 in Prather to Copper Avenue.  As a whole Aubbery Road is a nice back country drive from approximately 4,800 feet above sea level west through the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the outskirts of Fresno.
