No, let all numbers stay in play forever.

For me, 73 has to begin and end with New York 73 through the High Peaks of the Adirondacks to Lake Placid.  Here's it's eastern end.  March 16, 2001.



For an I-73, I will go back to January 2, 2010, for Future I-73 in North Carolina.



I've never driven or even seen US 73, so instead I'll go up to Quebec.  June 28, 2011.

US 73 is a fairly-short route tucked away in northeast Kansas  and southeast Nebraska.

This may be the farthest-away-from-Peoria sign to mention Peoria (my hometown). This is on NB I-65 south of Indianapolis, roughly 217 miles away from downtown Peoria.

It has always surprised me that Indiana's section of I-74 uses Peoria as the control city on WB I-74 from Indy, rather than in-state Crawfordsville, or even Danville IL (twice the size of Crawfordsville).

There is one exception, though. The brand-new interchange of I-74 with Ronald Reagan Parkway (Exit 68) does use Crawfordsville on the BGS's directing traffic onto WB I-74.
